KERRY County Council have appointed a second gardener to maintain Tralee Town Park.

Welcoming the announcement made at the Tralee Municipal District meeting on Monday, Sinn Féin Councillor Pa Daly said; “We have been highly critical on the state of the town park in recent months, the park was left deteriorate after the retirement of the previous gardeners and it was a source of huge disappointment to the many people in Tralee who cherish their town park or the Green as most people in the town refer to it.

“This is an issue we have brought time and time again to the attention of management of Kerry County Council.”

“I very much welcome this positive announcement that should finally bring our park back to the high standard that both locals and tourists alike expect.”

“I have also asked management to explore if we can let those who have a keen interest in gardening to utilise their skills on a voluntary basis in the park. I have spoken to several people who would love to be given an opportunity to show off their skills and to help support our park.”
