A NEW Lidl store destined for the old Heiton-Buckley premises on Edward Street was granted planning by Kerry County Council, but conditions set by the authority will now be appealed by the German supermarket giant.
Back in August, the site – which was on the market at a €650,000 guide price from the selling agent REA North’s in Denny Street – realised well in excess of €1m when sold. Lidl then applied for planning permission in November. This was granted last month by Kerry County Council, subject to 18 conditions.
The German supermarket giant has now appealed against one or more of the 18 conditions outlined, to An Bord Pleanála.
The new store will be 2,767 sq m square metres over two floors, with 131 car spaces and 27 spaces for bikes.
The appeal is due to be ruled on by September 28.
