Seven Things To Do Around Tralee This Weekend

There’s so much to do around town this weekend there’s no excuse for letting the cold keep you indoors. Here’s a few suggestions…

Friday

1. Fantastic fashions…

Adapt Fashion 1The ADAPT shop on Matt Talbot Road will be the venue for a special fundraising fashion show. The shop will be transformed into a runway with seating surrounding it so people can see the fashions available in the shop.

All clothes on display will be available to buy after the show. Tickets are €10, there is canapés and a glass of bubbly on arrival and there are some great spot prizes including a weekend away in a hotel, dinner vouchers and much more. Tickets are available on the night.

2. Go to the dogs for Pres…

Presentation Secondary School, Tralee are holding a “Night at the Dogs” at Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, doors open at 7pm.

There will be fantastic raffle prizes each worth over €100. There will also be spot prizes, face art, nail art, novelty races and lots of other surprises. Tickets cost €10 each and all funds raised will go to the school.

3. Celebrating Christie…

If music is your thing, then The Troubadour Club at the Rose Hotel, presented by Francie Conway, will kick off a two day festival celebrating Christie Hennessy on Friday night at 8:30pm.  Music acts performing include Chapter 2, John Buggy, Mickey Harte and many more. Tickets €10.

Saturday sees  a special ceremony on the Saturday near the statue of Christie, when the area will be dedicated the ‘Christie Hennessy Plaza’. It will take place at 4pm.  Later that night, The IMRO Christie Hennessy Song Competition takes place again at 8:30pm at The Rose Hotel and is free to all. 4. Santa on parade…

The streets of Tralee will come alive this Saturday with Santa and friends moving through the streets for the annual CH Santa Parade.

Starting at 2pm, CH Chemists is inviting families to come along to meet Santa, Mrs Claus and some of your favourite toy characters at the annual event.
The streets of Tralee will be filled with music and fun as Christmas floats and special guests along with Darth Vader & some Disney characters lead Santa in this festive celebration.

The Parade route will travel down Rock Street, Bridge Street and The Mall and the top of Denny Street. Santa and Mrs Claus and their friends will meet everyone at The Square before they officially open “Santa Land” at C.H.

5. Lighting up for Christmas…

Xmas Lights 2As if all the excitement of the parade wasn’t enough, Kieran Donaghy will join the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Terry O’Brien to switch on the Christmas Lights in Tralee in The Square from 4.30pm.

It’s sure to be a festive atmosphere around town as the Stacks, Kerry and Warriors man turns on the light which really gives a festive feel to town.

6. Support the Warriors…

The Tralee side will have another home game at Tralee Sports and Leisure Centre this Saturday. After a fantastic finish last week against Eanna BC there’s sure to be another massive crowd this time against UCD Marian. The action starts at 8pm but get their early.

Sunday

7. A Ladies Lunch…

Connect Launch 1There’s still tickets available for the 4th annual Connect Ladies Lunch & Fashion Afternoon in Ballyroe Heights Hotel.

In support of Recovery Haven Cancer Support House in Tralee, the Connect Lunch on Sunday, November 27, will begin the Christmas season in style with a champagne reception, 4 course luncheon with wines, fashion show, beauty and cookings tips, entertainment and the infamous after party late into the night.

There will also be a few surprise celebrity guest appearances also. Priced at €50, tickets have been flying but there are still a few available from the reception of Ballyroe Heights Hotel and directly from Connect Magazine by calling 086 2408237.
