Seven Things To Do Around Tralee This Weekend

Christmas is coming and shopping is taking over most people’s weekends. Still though, if you have some time…

Friday

1. Time to party…

November’s over so it’s officially ok to get out and party. The festive season here so whether it’s a work do or you just fancy meeting up with friends, there’s a great atmosphere in the restaurants and pubs during the weekend. Have some fun, you deserve it!

Saturday

2. Basketball marathon…

A LOCAL basketball club is organising a special event to help out the Kerry Hospice Foundation.

Tralee Imperials is hosting a Christmas Basketball Marathon at the Mercy Mounthawk gym from 9am to 9pm on December 9.

There will be festive fun, music and games all day long with each team participating a different stages throughout the day.

They will also have a Bake Sale from 10am-12noon on the day upstairs in Mounthawk and some Garvey’s Warriors will be there also showing their support. All are welcome to call in.

3. Fenit Plunge…

SPECIAL Olympics Ireland are holding the ‘Fenit Polar Plunge’ this Saturday.

If you’re doing the Christmas swim this year, while not get used the water and help out a great cause by taking part.

 

 

Those who think they are brave enough to take the Polar Plunge can register at www.specialolympics.ie/polarplunge. Registration costs just €20 with plungers asked to raise an additional €50.

All money raised goes directly to supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities in sport and competitions. Plungers who raise more than €50 will also receive a complimentary Polar Plunge T-Shirt.

4. Manor Food and Craft fair…

MANOR West is booming these days and there’ll be plenty happening again this weekend from 11am – 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. The food and craft fair will host numerous local artisan food producers and craftspeople offering fantastic handmade products from the heart of Kerry.

Of course Santa and his friends are also there on Saturday and there will also be facepainting and balloon modelling to keep the younger visitors happy and occupied.

Manor West has manned car parking areas over the festive period as well as extra parking opened daily behind Debenhams during peak traffic times.  All the parking as always is free of charge.

5. Meet Aimee at CH..

RENOWNED MUA Aimee Connolly is coming to CH Chemist’s for a meet and greet between 12noon and 3pm.

Aimee is a regular on TV3’s Xpose, the nation’s biggest fashion and beauty show, and also has a weekly column with the Sunday World.

You can save 10% on her palette, brush and brush set as well as get some invaluable beauty advice for the party season.

6. Get the Santa suit on…

This year’s Tralee Santa 5k Fun Run will take place on Sunday at 11am from the Tralee Bay Wetlands and once again, runners, joggers, walkers, cyclists and pets alike are welcome to take part.

This year’s run is for a very special local cause, as organisers have decided to donate proceeds to the childrens’ ward at University Hospital Kerry. If you haven’t registered yet, call to 11 Main St Blennerville on Friday or Saturday.

7. Curraheen Concert

Curraheen community’s Christmas concert will be held  at Blennerville National School Hall from 6pm to 8pm. This is a wonderful community event with some great musical talent on show.

Tickets €10 per adult, available from O’Shea’s Blennerville and St. John’s Parish Centre. Proceeds to Community Room extension fund.
