The bank holiday weekend has come and gone, so many of us will have to make do with just the two days off…here’s a few ways to spend your time…

FRIDAY

1. Running from Thursday, May 7 to Saturday, May 9 at the ‘R Block’ at IT Tralee North Campus, final year students from the ‘Creative Media’ department will be exhibiting the projects that they have been working on over the past year to peers and the public.

On offer to view will be short films, interactive installations and documentaries amongst other projects, so if you’re around Tralee on Friday or Saturday, please pop into the North Campus at about 7pm to give a look-see as to what it’s all about.

2. If you fancy yourself somewhat fit and are interested in taking your bike out for a spin at the weekend, then look no further than the ‘Fenit Lifeboat Cycle’ that will take place on Saturday, May 9.

Registration for the event is between 9:15 and 10:15am at O’Donnells in Mounthawk on the morning of the cycle. It is scheduled to get going at 10:30am.

The minimum entry fee is €30, but if people want to give a little bit more on the day they can do so.

3. If you fancy giving our hurlers a bit of support head to Austin Stack Park where the Division 2A champions take on Meath in the Christy Ring Cup.

The Kerry hurling team are going great guns at the moment after being promoted to Division 1B in April and winning against Down last weekend.

They deserve a good crowd to turn up to support them. The action starts at 12.30pm.

4. The selection of this years ‘Kerry Rose’ will be taking place in the ‘Ballyroe Heights Hotel’ on Saturday night at 7.30pm hosted by Daithi Ó Sé.

The night promises to be a highly entertaining evening out for everyone involved.

Tickets are €25 and are available from the Rose of Tralee Festival Office at the Ashe Memorial Hall (today only) and at the door on the night.

5. There’s a big match up for decision on Saturday night in Connolly Park.

The Austin Stacks v Dr Crokes County League 2015 fixture is doubling up as the County League Final 2014 which was put off due to the Rockies congested fixtures late last year.

Expect some county stars on show in what is sure to be a full-blooded battle between two of the best sides in Kerry. Throw-in is at 7pm.

SUNDAY

6. The organisers of the ‘Kingdom County Fair’ are anticipating another huge crowd this year when it takes place this weekend on Sunday, May 10 at Ballybeggan Racecourse, Tralee.

Besides the usual competitions, there will be plenty of family entertainment on offer with a Mobile Animal Farm, Live Music, Baby Show, Bouncy Castles, Slides, Land Zorbing, Water Walker Activity, which includes a large inflatable pool and Caterpillar Crawl.

For more information, please fine the timetable of events at the bottom of our previous story here.

7. If the excitement of the previous day’s County League Final wasn’t enough, Connolly Park will welcome RTE’s Marty Morrrissey and the RTÉ Radio 1 Sunday Sports team to launch the station’s Sunday Game coverage for 2015.

The programme will include live broadcasts with an all star line up of GAA analysts & presenters from both the Austin Stacks Club & from Ballyhale Shamrocks, Kilkenny between 4pm – 5.30pm. Guests at the Austin Stacks Club will include Marty Morrissey, Tomás Ó Sé, Joe Brolly, Pádraig Joyce, Pat Spillane and others as they discuss the upcoming Football Championship season.

All are welcome to the club for the event.
