SHANAKILL Resource Centre was draped in pink last Tuesday for a coffee morning to highlight awareness of breast cancer.

‘Paint it Pink’ is the Irish Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Campaign encouraging people across Ireland to hold their own pink fundraiser in their community or at work to do something pink to raise vital life-saving funds supporting breast cancer research and support service.

“We wanted to raise awareness about breast cancer,” said one of the organisers.

“We used the opportunity of getting our women’s group in, so we could get information leaflets out there to advertise it to the community. The coffee morning is so we can have a little chat and speak about the signs and what to look out for.”

The Marie Keating foundation sent the women’s group balloons and information leaflets. The group provided their own personal touch by backing cup cakes, delightfully topped of with pink icing for the occasion.
