SIAMSA Tíre has recently set up a fundraising scheme for local charities and community organisations.
Arlington Lodge Homeless Shelter, St John of Gods Kerry Services and Adapt Kerry Women’s Refuge are currently selling tickets to events at Siamsa Tíre in an effort to raise much-needed funds.
“We have so many deserving causes here in Kerry,” says Róisín McGarr, Executive Director at Siamsa Tíre. “During lockdown, the team here at Siamsa Tíre discussed ways in which we could support our local community and one of the ideas we came up with was helping these charities and groups with fundraising.”

The way they have decided to do this is for these groups to ‘adopt a show’. “What this means is that they choose one of our upcoming events and start selling tickets for it,” says Róisín. “Proceeds from those ticket sales are then donated to the charity.”
The scheme benefits everyone. “It’s a great way for charities to make money as they are not asking people for donations,” says Róisín. “Instead, they are selling tickets to an enjoyable night out. It’s a fantastic way for people to support a good cause. And for us here at Siamsa Tíre, it’s our way of giving back to the local community that has always been so good to us.”
St John of Gods Kerry Services are selling tickets to the Trad Connections Concert featuring local musicians Paudie O’Connor and Aoife Ní Chaoimh taking place on March 25th. Use the code SJOG when they book online or through the box office.
Arlington Lodge Homeless Shelter in Tralee is selling tickets to a Fishamble Theatre production of Silent on April 28th. To support the shelter and see the show, use the code AL22 when booking.
