THERE’S good news for anyone who is planning to audition for Siamsa Tíre’s National Folk Training Academy.

The relaxing of Covid-19 restrictions means these auditions can now take place in person rather than by video.

They will be held at Siamsa Tíre in Tralee over the two weekends of Friday and Saturday the 13th and 14th, and the 20th and 21st of August.

The auditions are open to children between the ages of 7 and 12.  Passing them means these children can then take part in a three-year formal educational training programme in traditional Irish dance, singing, music, and drama.

As part of the audition process, all children must have an Irish dancing step prepared as well as a song in Irish or in English.

The auditions will take place at half-hourly intervals between 9.30am and 1pm and 6pm and 8.30pm on each of the four days.

Weather permitting, they will be held in the outdoor courtyard.  In the event of rain, they will be moved to the music room in the foyer.   All auditions must be booked in advance by calling the Siamsa Tíre box office at 066 7123055.
