Ceiliúradh Na Nollag takes place in Siamsa Tire tonight.

THE new National Folk Theatre Choir will give their inaugural performance tonight (Thursday) at Siamsa Tíre.

As part of the ongoing development of the National Folk Theatre of Ireland at Siamsa Tíre, a National Folk Theatre Choir was established at the end of September 2015.

Tonight, the choir will present its first performance in Siamsa Tíre, Ceilúradh na Nollag, under the direction of Choral Mistress, Geraldine Hurley.

Ceiliúradh na Nollag will feature traditional Irish Christmas songs as well as the popular carols loved by many.

The choir of almost 30 will be joined by the young students of the National Folk Theatre training schemes as well as by special guests, Marina Cassidy and Sarah Jane Drummey.

A festive stage and lighting design especially created for the concert will complement the seasonal theme of the evening.

The key force behind the development of the choir is Siamsa Tíre’s Choral Mistress, Geraldine Hurley who has many years of experience in choral direction and who spent her seminal years in the company under the guidance of founder, Fr Pat Ahern.

Working with the National Folk Theatre’s Artistic Director, Jonathan Kelliher, Geraldine is looking forward to the ongoing development of the choir and to staging many more concerts over the coming years including an event planned as part of the Centenary events for 2016.

The concert will be preceded by complimentary mince pies and mulled wine from 7.15pm.  Ceiliúradh na Nollag begins at 8pm and tickets are €15/12.
