SIPTU members employed by GoSafe Ireland – the operator of speed camera vans on behalf of the State which is based in Listowel — are to conduct a 24 hour work stoppage.

The industrial action will begin from 6am on Saturday, September 28. This is as a result of a dispute related to working conditions at the company and SIPTU employees voted for the strike action.

Earlier this month SIPTU Organiser, Brendan Carr, called for GoSafe Ireland not to be awarded any more government contracts if they won’t agree to deal with trade unions.

He said the comapany was refusing to implement a Labour Court recommendation, which confirmed SIPTU had the sole right to negotiate with management on behalf of its members.
