A SITE for a cycling pump track in the Tralee area is in the process of being acquired by Kerry County Council.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Mikey Sheehy asked for an update on the position and progress of the proposed Tralee Pump Track at the Tralee Municipal District meeting on Monday.

He was told Kerry County Council are proceeding with the acquisition of a site for the provision of this amenity and it is hoped this will be completed in the coming weeks.

However, once finalised, a funding stream will need to be sought to enable it to be delivered. Anluan Dunne, of Mountain Biking Kerry (MTBKY) gave a presentation on pump tracks at the January meeting of Tralee Municipal District.

MTBKY had been working with the council and former Cllr. Norma Foley on the project for the past two years.

It is hoped that the Tralee development will feature a pump track, mountain bike skills course and a children’s cycle development area.
