Glory be, it’s the weekend! There’s a whole host of stuff on around town for all tastes, so here’s a few ideas of what to get up to…

Saturday

1. Open days...

The Tralee secondary school open days take place over the next week and Saturday sees Colaiste Gleann Lí in Clash and Mercy Mounthawk showcase their facilities.

If you have a child leaving primary school this year then it’s worth spending the morning seeing what the schools offer. Mercy Mounthawk opens at 10am until 1.30pm while Colaiste Gleann Lí from 10am to 1pm.

2. St Brendan’s minors bid for glory…

Players from Tralee area clubs will be in action this Saturday in Austin Stack Park in the Keane’s Supervalu Kerry Minor Football Final.

The team will be up against it though as East Kerry will be the favourites with minor stars like David Clifford to call on. The game throws in at 4pm.

3. ‘Lip Sing’ fun in Ballyroe…

The Enable Ireland Kerry ‘Lip Sing’ takes at Ballyroe Heights Hotel and 12 acts will battle it out to become this year’s Champion.

Tickets are €15 and available from participants as well as Enable Ireland services in Oakview Village and Edward Street Tralee. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm.

4. Warriors on a roll…

After last weekend’s dramatic finish, it just proved Tralee Sports Complex is the place to be on Saturday nights for Warriors home games.

This week sees them at home to the DCU Saints in Round 5 of the Men’s Superleague at 8pm. Get there early for a seat because it’s bound to be a sellout.

5. Meet the neighbours…

Keane’s of Curraheen is the place to be for the ‘Meet the Neighbours’ Social Night hosted by Curraheen Community Council.

Everyone from between Blennerville and Derrymore West is invited to attend a night that was last held five years ago.

Because life is so hectic it’s often difficult to find time to meet neighbours and friends so this is great  opportunity to catch up.

A great night of music will be provided by local musicians. Finger food will be served. Prizes will be raffled during the night. The fun will begin at 9.30pm.

Sunday

6. Ballyduff and Lixnaw go again…

North Kerry will converge on Austin Stack Park again this Sunday for the Garveys Supervalu Kerry SHC final replay.

Lixnaw and Ballyduff played out a thriller last week so expect another ding-dong battle with a 3pm throw-in.
