MET EIREANN are predicting snowfall for the Kerry area and have put the county on a status ‘Orange’ weather warning for snow and icy conditions.
With today set to be bitterly cold, the wintry conditions are set to be most acute in western parts of Munster, Connacht and Ulster where there will be hail, sleet and snow in most areas. The snow is due to fall in the Tralee area from late-afternoon onwards and into the night.
Met Eireann have forecasted up to 8cm of snow in some areas of the country.
A spokesperson from Tralee Garda station is asking motorists to exercise caution as all roads in the Tralee area may not be salted or gritted.
If you are travelling from Cork through the county bounds later today, Gardaí are urging motorists to take care because of some hazardous road conditions.
The snow made an appearance in some counties along the west coast last night. Here are some images and video of what could be in store for us very soon.
