Young Martin Quilligan from Tralee receives a visit from soccer star Robbie Keane and his LA Galaxy team-mates yesterday in Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin yesterday.

A TRALEE boy was among those visited by Ireland striker Robbie Keane and his LA Galaxy teammates yesterday at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin…and it really made his day!

Eight-year-old Martin Quilligan from Tralee, who is being treated at the Dublin hospital, met with the Irish soccer legend and his team-mates, who were there as part of a fundraising campaign for the hospital. He even appeared on RTE’s Six-One News last night with the stars.

“Oh, they made his day,” said his aunt, Sharon Quilligan. “He wasn’t expecting it at all and he’s still talking about it. He’s a big Man Utd fan so he loves his football,” said Sharon.

Martin, son of Martin and Tara Quilligan, is from the Mitchels area and was diagnosed with a brain tumour back in November. The third class pupil in Moyderwell is undergoing chemotherapy at the hospital at the moment.

“They stayed chatting to him for a while and they signed t-shirts and teddy bears for him so he was delighted. It’ll be a milestone for him,” said Sharon.
