A GATHERING is to take place in Tralee on Saturday in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

People are asked to gather at The Square from 1.30pm until 2.30pm, to wear a mask and to adhere to social distancing rules at all times in groups no bigger than six.

Hundreds of people have been killed over the past couple of weeks since violence flared up again between Israelis and Palestinians.

Members of Kerry Sinn Féin gathered at the Square last Saturday in protest at the treatment of Palestinians and to mark Nakba Day, when Palestinians were displaced after the State of Israel was established in 1948.

Sinn Féin Kerry TD Pa Daly is asking people to show up on Saturday to show solidarity with Palestine and Tralee’s twin town, Beit Sahour, which is near Bethlehem.

Israel is for the Jewish peoples homeland. Just as Ireland is the Irish peoples homeland

So if the Irish population were successfully removed from our homeland (Ireland) and a people group from England and Scotland entered, settled and occupied that land, is it theirs?

What if in an alternative history all the Irish were removed from Ireland and replaced fully by the plantations. What if the Irish generations returned centuries later to take back our ancestral homeland, would Sinn Féin support the colonisers too in this scenario!

    Where is Palestine?
