‘Sounds Of Cinema’ Concert Returns This Sunday

AN evening of fabulous music and song is in prospect next Sunday when the ‘Sounds Of Cinema’ reverberates around St John’s the Evangelist Church in Ashe Street.

Following on from the success of their Christmas concert, Kerry Scotia Ensemble and Caitriona O’Sullivan are once again presenting a gala concert of music and song from film soundtracks called “Sounds of Cinema – The Sequel”, which will take place on this coming Sunday at 7.30pm. The orchestra have been lucky enough on this occasion to be awarded funds from the Local Live Performance Programming Scheme 4 from Kerry County Council and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media to run this concert, which will feature music and songs from favourite family films like Moana, Hercules and Beauty and the Beast as well as from some adult favourites like Batman, The Hunger Games, Mamma Mia and Bohemian Rhapsody.

This concert will once again have musical arrangements of film soundtracks from composer Richard Rudkins and will feature songs sung by singer song-writer Caitriona O’Sullivan, who is a frequent collaborator and friend of the ensemble.

Many people will know Caitriona from her time as a judge on TG4’s hit country music show ‘Glor Tire’ and from her recent chart topping success with her no. 1 hit on the Irish country music charts called ‘This Country Girl’.

Caitriona is also a presenter on a new TV show ‘The Caitriona O’Sullivan Show’ on Spotlight TV, Channel 365 on Sky which features music videos, interviews with special guests and songs performed by Caitriona.

Kerry Scotia Ensemble is Kerry’s only professional orchestra and has been organising high quality concerts around the county with professional musicians and artists since 2016.

The Kerry Scotia Ensemble was initially founded with the assistance of an Arts Act Grant from Kerry Council and has received multiple awards of grants and funding from Kerry Council and the Arts Council since its foundation in order to promote the performance of classical music in Kerry.
