Spate Of Burglaries Across The County Over The Past Week

GARDAÍ are warning people to be vigilant after a spate of burglaries around the county in the past week.

The incidents took place in Tralee, Listowel, Moyvane and Killarney and they are appealing for any information which can lead to the apprehension of the offenders.

In Tralee on Saturday, February 27, a house was broken into in the Cahermoneen estate in Tralee. A back kitchen window of a house was forced open. Jewellery in a bedroom was emptied from a jar but nothing was taken in the break in.

Over in Listowel a holiday home was broken into between Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27 in Skehenerin area. The intruder gained entry by smashing the glass on the back door  but nothing was taken.

In Moyvane, on Friday, February 26, between 5pm and 10pm a house in the Leitrim middle area was broken into. The back window of the house was forced open. A substantial amount of money was taken in the break-in.

There were three burglary incidents in the Killarney area. On Monday, February 22, between 8.30am and 3.15pm, a house was broken into in the Clydagh Valley area of Barraduff. There was jewellery and a sum of money taken.

On Friday, February 26 between 8.40pm and 9.10pm, a house in the Millwood Estate in Killarney was broken into. The owner of the house disturbed the intruder who then fled the scene empty-handed.

On the same night, an unoccupied house was broken into in Marian Terrace. The house was thoroughly searched and four rings were taken.

In another incident which took place between Friday last at 5pm and Sunday at 1pm, a house in Ballycasheen, Killarney, was broken into, through the rear of the house. It was searched but nothing was taken.

Gardaí are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious regarding any of the above incidents to contact their local garda stations.
