AFTER last year’s emotional event at the Tralee Bay Wetlands, Recovery Haven’s Celebration Of Light, in association with Rose of Tralee International Festival and Kerry Choral Union, returns to the centre next month.

The annual fundraiser for the Cancer Support House is in its sixth year and will see the candle lighting ceremony held on Wednesday, August 16 at 8.30pm.

There will be music from the Kerry Choral Union and lanterns will be released into the water. Some of the Rose of Tralee contestants and their escorts will also be in attendance.

The ‘Celebration of Light’ has become a very important annual community event which gives an opportunity for all those whose lives have been touched by cancer to come together and share experiences and celebrate the lives of families and friends.

The symbolic lighting of candles creates a very special atmosphere, people are united and hope is renewed. Through solidarity and light Recovery Have’s sincere aim is to bring hope to the community.

Candles will be on sale for €3 or two for €5 from various outlets and Recovery Haven at Haig’s Terrace. People are asked to gather at 8pm at the Wetlands.

The annual Celebration of Light event has taken place in beaches all over Kerry such as Fenit, Ballybunion, Banna, Causeway, Portmagee and Dingle.

If you or someone you know would like to hold a Celebration of Light in your community, Recovery Haven would be delighted to invite people to join them at a convenient location to promote hope through light.
