IF you love your fashion and you’re looking for a different type of shopping experience, an Ardfert boutique is a treasure trove well worth visiting.

While Bamboo — located on the left just after Horgan’s Centra on the entrance to the village — may look small from the outside, it has a spacious interior with a high ceiling, stone fireplace and quirky touches to delight the shopper.

Bamboo started in 2005 after Sharon Lewis and Kay Revington set up in the old stone cottage.

“It was a rundown building at that time with mud floors and no roof so we renovated it,” said Sharon. “We originally sold mother and baby/maternity clothes, but eventually went back to what I knew best which was women’s fashion.”

“We do a huge age range — we typically get mothers and daughters from 30 upwards shopping here — and we start at size 8 to size 18. Our range includes accessories with bags, scarves, jewellery, belts and shoes, all very affordable.”

Sharon explained their modus operandi and what Bamboo offers fashion lovers.

As well as fashions, there’s loads of accessories.

“The concept is to look good every day and we do a lot of mix and matching. We’ve been styling for years so we know what looks good. The idea is that you would buy something to suit going to an occasion and we can also style it down for more everyday activities. When I’m buying I’m looking for fashions with longevity and for multiple uses. Our clothes are affordable, funky and edgy.

Sharon says many people make a visit to Bamboo part of a great morning or afternoon out.

“Ardfert is a great village and it’s not far from Tralee. People can go to Banna beach for a walk and stop in the village for a coffee or bite to eat in Kate Browne’s and then come to us to have a look and shop. It’s a great way to spend a whole afternoon.”

Parking is available nearby and the building is wheelchair accessible and buggy-friendly. So the next time you’re heading to the beach or out in Ardfert for a bite to eat, it’s well worth popping in to this gem of a boutique.

Also, the boutique is currently having a summer sale. The shop is open from 10am-6pm Monday to Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 6pm.  For more see their facebook page
