Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn

IF you are considering an all-Irish education for your child or just curious about life in a Gaelscoil, Tralee’s only all-Irish Primary school extends a Céad Míle fáilte to you all to Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn at Killeen Road, Tralee, this Wednesday March 4 at 11am and again at 6.30pm.

An Irish-medium school or ‘Gaelscoil’ is a school that carries out its daily business through the medium of Irish; classes are taught as Gaeilge, staff converse as Gaeilge, and the pupils’ ability to communicate completely as Gaeilge both inside and outside the school gates is fostered, encouraged and reinforced from the moment they set foot in the school.

The school’s inclusive enrolment policy ensures pupils of all cultural and social backgrounds and those pupils with special education needs are all welcome at Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn.

All children at the Gaelscoil acquire the Irish language through language immersion and become competent fluent Irish speakers while successfully engaging with and studying the standard curriculum as set out by the Department of Education.

This is further extended to the experience of Irish culture through active engagement in dance, music, drama, games and heritage.

Not to worry if you do not have Irish yourself, over 90% of parents who send their children to Gaelscoileanna have little or no Gaeilge, so this is perfectly normal!

If you would like to get a greater insight into a day in the life of a Gaelscoil pupil, pop along to the school on March 4th. Bain triail as. Bigí linn. Failte roimh chách.
