Colaiste Colm Ballincollig 0-4

Tralee CBS qualified for their first Frewen Cup final in five years following a comprehensive win over Colaiste Colm of Ballincollig.

They now play old rivals St Brendans Killarney in the final on March 16.

Much akin to their victory over Mercy Mounthawk in the quarter final, The Green raced into an unassailable lead in the first 30 mins during which they amassed 1-7 to a solitary point for the opposition.

Playing against a strong wind in the second half they only conceded a further three points owing much to a stout defence marshalled brilliantly by Tommy Lynch, Sean Mortimer and Tomas O’Connor.

Indeed Lynch stepped up to the plate also when he dispatched a penalty in the opening period. The other goal was scored by Aaron Roche in the 2nd half.

Throughout, Tralee CBS dominated the midfield action with Tom Hoare and Stefan Okunbor imperious.

Up front, youngster Michael Kelliher  and Gearoid Fitzgerald were a thorn in Colaiste Colm’s side from the get-go with Aaron Roche very effective too. However the man of the match award went to the indomitable Michael Reidy who simply ran the game at wing forward.

This result will see The Green once again dining at the top table of Munster Football football after a brief hiatus. The Sem will however be intent on making it an unpleasant experience on March 16.
