Sport: Kerins O’Rahilly’s To Face Feale Rangers

Strand RoadKERINS O’RAHILLY’s will take on Feale Rangers in Round 2 of the County Championship this Sunday in Strand Road at 4pm.

The draw which took place last night will see the Blues take on another divisional side after their demoralizing opening round loss to South Kerry at the weekend in Cahersiveen.

St Brendan’s were also in the draw.  The Tralee area divisional outfit which encompasses Na Gaeil, John Mitchels, St Pats, Churchill and Ardfert drew Currow away on Saturday June 28. They are in the ‘losers round’ after their loss to Laune Rangers the week previous.

On paper this presents an easier fixture for the Strand Road side than what they faced at the weekend, but with relegation from the championship looming large the pitfalls of defeat could be disastrous.

They face a Feale Rangers side still without their Finuge contingent who capitulated badly at the weekend to Stacks. The home advantage and the desire to retain senior status will be something the blues can draw upon.

Dr Crokes were the surprise inclusion in the draw after Rathmore became the first side to put them to the sword in the county championship in four years. Crokes are scheduled to play Kenmare District who failed to field a team against Dingle.

St Kierans will face Legion and West Kerry will play the winners of Milltown/Castlemaine and Kilcummin which ended in a draw.
