St Brendans crestLadies Div 2

St Brendan’s 53 TK Lixnaw 25
Both teams got off too a slow start in the first quarter. Great shooting by Brendan’s Laura Griffin with six points helped the home side to ease into an early lead that was added to with baskets from Isa Fernadez. At the end of first quarter St. Brendan’s led 10pts to nil. The second quarter saw Brendan’s increase their lead with great shooting from Linda Raymond with five points and Jillian Kerins with four.

Carmel who was also working hard on the rebounds added a basket to the scoreline and St. Brendan’s increased their advantage to 26-7 at half-time.
In the third quarter Lixnaw came out a different side and immediately upped the intensity level with great scoring by Karen Stack. But Brendan’s kept adding baskets through Roisin O’Shea and lovely three pointers by Linda Raymond saw them keep control of the game with a 44-22 lead going into the final quarter.

The last quarter was a very physical affair with both teams leaving it all on the floor. Katie Costello who worked outstandingly on defence through out the whole game added a couple of scores for Brendan’s and with Neus Cifre excelling at playing point guard and making some impressive assists made life difficult for Lixnaw.

Brendan’s maintained their advantage and added to it in the final stretch. Final score was St. Brendan’s 60 TK Lixnaw 25.

U12 Div 2
Caherciveen 28 St. Brendan’s 25

St. Brendan’s travelled to Coláiste na Sceilige to play Caherciveen last Sunday. The game turned out to be a very encounter throughout with the lead changing hands and never was there more than two or three points separating the teams.

Brendan’s trailed by three at half time with scores coming from David, Kieran, Seán and Brian however Caherciveen’s Brian Quinlan kept his team ahead from the free throw line.

Shane C, Rory, Eoghan and Braiden worked hard in defence to curtail the Caherciveen attack and Brendan’s finally went a point up thanks to two quick baskets from Shane K going into the final two minutes. However Caherciveen fought back to regain their lead in the last minute of the game to run out winners on a scoreline of 28 – 25.

Team: David, Seán, Kieran, Shane C, Shane K, Brian, Rory, Eoghan, Braiden
