St. Brendan’s 45 Tralee Imperials 15

St. Brendan’s U12s put their recent plate final defeat behind them to run out convincing winners against Imperials last Saturday. They started strongly and some good combined play from all players in the first quarter put them 14pts to 4 ahead. Brian O’Donnell and David Scally distributed the ball well with Olaf Michalazuk getting 10 points in this period and a basket each from Shane Kelly and Shane Cotter. Brendan’s continued to dominate the second quarter, Jack Murphy, Rory Clifford and Brayden Pierce putting points on the board with great defence from Peter Doyle and Eoghan Bradshaw and Liam Óg O’Connor getting in for some good rebounds. Roan Grattan and Brian Enright proved most accurate for Imperials. Brendan’s led 23 pts to 8 at half time. The second and third quarters allowed all players plenty of court time and when the final whistle blew Brendan’s were well ahead eventually winning on a scoreline of 45pts to 15.

The Garvey’s Tralee Warriors unbeaten winning streak came to an end last Saturday night when they were edged out in a Superleague thriller against Templeogue. Victory for the Dublin side ensured that they secured the regular season title but the Warriors gave their rivals nothing easy and brought the contest right down to the wire before eventually losing out by 96-93. The Warriors host the last game of the home and away fixtures this Saturday 18th March when they welcome the Radisson Blu UL Eagles to the Tralee Sports Complex. The tip off is at the earlier time of 3.00pm on a busy day of sport in Tralee. Make a date for the diary and get to the Complex early for what promises to be a great send off for the Warriors as they prepare for the playoffs. Details of the playoff matches with times and venues will be arranged after the final round of games this weekend in both Superleague and National League Division One.
