St. Brendan’s 13 TK Bobcats 10

St Brendan’s U11 boys hosted TK Bobcats in Moyderwell Hall last Monday and it was Brendan’s first on the scoreboard with 2 lovely free shots from Brendan Meehan after drawing a foul from a fast break.

Baskets from Darragh Morris, another free throw from Brendan and great defence from the home side saw the first quarter end with St Brendan’s 5-0 up.

The second quarter got off to a great start for Bobcat’s Stephen Turner landing a lovely basket from inside the key but St Brendan’s Liam Cooper and Jamie McCarty quickly answered with a basket each finishing the first half with St. Brendan’s stretching out to a 9-2 lead.

Rohan Healy opened the scoring in the second half after drawing a foul and going to the line to make the free throw. Jack Jay for Bobcats showed lovely ball carrying skills during his time on the floor and got a lovely layup to keep the away side in the game.

With some big rebounds by Brendan’s Rohan Healy, a lovely basket by Jamie McCarty and a free throw from Brayden Pierce the home side led 13 – 4 finishing the 3rd quarter. Bobcats came into the final quarter fighting for the win and with a lovely inside basket by Con Sheehan and 2 big baskets from Stephen Turner they were only 3 points behind Brendan’s with just seconds left on the clock.

The Bobcats defence proved too good for the home side to put up a score in the last quarter but in the last play of the game a massive rebound by Ryan Hand gave Brendan’s possession at the final buzzer with the game finishing 13-10 to St. Brendan’s.

St. Brendan’s 70 Tralee Imperials 38

St. Brendan’s welcomed Imperials to Moyderwell in a local derby last Friday and in a tight first quarter both teams went score for score with Brendan’s edging it by 5 points with baskets from Padraig, Rap and Lawerence and Imperials finding the basket through Rauul, Leroy and Tristan.

The first quarter ended 16-11 to Brendan’s. In the second quarter Brendan’s began to get into their groove and pulled away with Dominic getting a big 3 and George also getting on the score sheet.

There was also good defence from Danny, Gary, Aaron and Jack in this quarter to keep Imperials out. The third quarter was another tight affair with Brendan’s old boy Philip Corkery getting 2 big 3’s for Imperials and Rauul getting another few baskets.

Steven and Lawerence replied for Brendan’s. In the last quarter Brendan’s proved too strong for Imperials and ran away with it winning 70-38. Top scorers for Brendan’s was Rap 22, Lawerence 15, Padraig and Steven 10, Imperials top scorers were Rauul 18, Philip 9 and Tristan with 6. It was a great result for coaches Ger and Donald.

Thursday 8.00pm to 10.00pm

GARVEY’S TRALEE WARRIORS

Garvey’s Tralee Warriors have slipped to fourth on the Super League table after another disappointing display away to Griffith College Swords Thunder.

Following last week’s defeat at home to UCD Marian, the Warriors were keen to make amends for an indifferent performance last week but Swords Thunder, who were coming off the back of three straight defeats, were in no mood to allow their poor run of form to continue and after a tight opening quarter dictated the remaining three quarters to run out eventual winners by 88-59.

Next up for the Garvey’s Tralee Warriors is the visit of last season’s League champions Templeogue in what promises to be another evening of drama and excitement at the Tralee Sports Complex. Tip off as usual is at 8 o’clock and supporters are advised to get to the Complex early.
