REPORTS

U12 Premier ; Park A 1-1 Camp A

On Friday night we opened our league campaign against Camp. A tough opening fixture against a very good team. on a lovely sunny evening in Christy Leahy Park, the game began at a frantic pace both team playing on the front foot. Camp took the lead with 5mins on the whit a long ball over the top Sean Broderick raced outside his area made a tackle but the ball bounced up and fell to the camp player perfectly and he composed himself and sublimely lobbed the ball over Cian Brosnan’s head as he tried to get back on the line to clear. 1 down but plenty time left to get back in it.

As the half wore on we pressed hard for the equaliser with martin Laucher coming close on 3 occasions the last chance coming with a diving header but the keeper held on to the ball. the half ended with us trailing 1 nil. We made a changes at half time Alan Brosnan coming for David Fiadio and Armin Heinrich replacing Graham Sheehy. both player gave some serious strength, speed and changed the game in our favour.

Two more changes with Darrah Caplis and Adam Walker coming on for Martin Laucher and Dylan Griffin. both subs made a massive difference and with Man of the Match Cian and Darragh causing Camp awful problems down the left and Adam and the tireless Sean Mcgrath raiding down the right it was a real push for our opening goal in this the lads first League Campaign. When Captain Leon Gallagher spun the defender raced through on the out coming keeper he composed himself dribbled around the keeper with some ease he steadied himself lined up the shot with two players running back to the line his shot only found the side netting.

A devastating blow to anybody’s confidence but not this captain after he began to drive on his team and after chasing down a camp counter he won the ball back just inside the camp half his cross was cleared only to find the boot of Cian Brosnan who unbelievable volley was struck with power accuracy and perfect technique was destined for the top corner from the moment it left his left boot and thats were it was heading and the keeper couldn’t keep it out after getting a good hand on it. final score 1-1.

The subs coming in made a real difference espiecally Armin and Alan. best on the day were Alan Armin Sean Mc Leon and man of the match was Cian not just for his goal but for a real determined performance. A good point in the end after training for so long in the game.Well done to all the player for the never giving in and playing right to the final whistle.

U12 Div1: Park 2 – 1 Camp United

The second league match of the season for the under 12 B team was played on Friday evening at home against Camps B team. Park fell behind in the third minute with Camp getting an easy penalty. From there on Park took over and had all the possession with most of the play taking place in the Camp half. However despite some good play from Robert in midfield and solid defending from Ryan Guerin and James Charles it remained 0-1 at half time. The second half continued as the first half left off with Park having most of the play but Camps defence was hard to get through.

However with the introduction of the Brick brothers with 15 minutes to go and Jordan Kissane moving forward, that was to change. A lovely cross from Connor Brick to Jordan saw him blast the ball into Camps net to level things up with 10 minutes to go. Five minutes later a super cross from Mark Brick found Jordan’s head and Jordan made it 2-1.

There was some late pressure from Camp in the closing minutes but Park were equal to it. There were triumphant scenes of joy and relief after the game by players and coaches alike.

Munster Youths Cup ; Park 7-0 Listowel Celtic

We advance to the Kerry area Final of the Munster Youths cup with a convincing win over Listowel Celtic on Saturday . The game was only a matter of minutes old when we went ahead from a back heal flick by Fergal Ryan . Sean Duked headed home minutes later before Ryan Dolan added two goals of his own to have us four goals up after 30 minutes.

Sean Dukes finessed from a tight angle just before he had to come off at half time injured . The second half us control the game again without adding much to the score line but we did however hit the frame of the goal on three occasions . Mid way through the half Fergal Ryan grabbed his second . For the final 15 minutes we played with 9 players as Segun Duyile and Gearoid Savage had to come off injured and all three subs had already had been made.

This didn’t seem to phase our passing and Ryan Dolan added to the scoring to complete his hat trick in the dying minutes . We now face Killarney Celtic in the Kerry area final .
