REPORTS ;
(U17) League ;

Iveragh Utd 1-3 Park Fc ,
After dropping two points to a late goal away to Killarney Athletic last time out, table-toppers St Brendan’s Park travelled to South Kerry in need of a victory to extend their lead to five points.  On a glorious Spring day, the Tralee lads set out for Iveragh with a reduced panel – but what they lacked in numbers, they more than compensated for in character, determination and no little skill.   With a last 18-minute blitzkrieg of their South Kerry opponents that will live long in the memory of this committed group of players and management, they eliminated a one-goal deficit to run out deserving victors. Park started with ace striker Donagh O’Brien between the sticks but took the game to Iveragh from the outset with Tomás Leen and Nathan O’Leary causing havoc down the right flank as they exploited the space left there by the Cahirciveen lads’ formation.  Seán Tansley’s contribution was once again immense as he directed operations from his centre half berth, where he was complimented by his trusty lieutenants, the tough-tackling Ronan Duggan and Kevan (the Bomber) Foley, who was commanding in the air throughout.  Shane McGinley continued his role as Mr Dependable by defending intelligently, using the ball well and getting forward when the opportunities arose.  Skipper, Gary Howard was superb all game and while he has imitated the finishes of Steven Gerrard previously, he brought to mind the performances of another Merseyside legend, Graeme Souness, as he won tackle after tackle in central midfield and drove forward to support the attack once the occasion demanded it.  It was also good to see Eamonn Sheehy starting to play his way back into form after another spell out through injury, but although John O’Brien gave his all for the cause, it was apparent that his usual razor-sharp edge was blunted by his recent absence from training due to the premature death of his grandmother (R.I.P.).  Rory Kelly has been brilliant so far this season but has also understandably missed some sessions of late due to his mock exams for the Leaving Certificate and he needed to work hard to stay with the pace of the game during the first half in particular.  Park dominated this half by playing good possession football, with Kelly, Howard, O’Leary and Leen all prominent but the final ball agonisingly failed to reach Sheehy and O’Brien on several occasions.  Park’s defence was rock-solid during this period with rookie-keeper O’Brien mopping up anything that got past Tansley & Co. Park persisted with the same line-up on the resumption although the temptation to play the adroit Ciaran Killeen must have been great.  The pattern of the game was unchanged from the opening half but this changed after 10 minutes when Iveragh won a free kick and with the Park defence dragged over to the near post, the delivery to the back stick was headed in unopposed by the inrushing striker from close range to make it Iveragh 1 Park 0.  All was changed now, changed utterly and a terrible reality surely descended on the Tralee lads and their mentors.  They did force a free kick on the edge of the opposition’s box but John O’Brien’s well placed effort brought a superb one-handed save from Iveragh’s keeper.   However, for all their possession, passing and controlled free-flowing football, they had failed to really penetrate the South Kerry defence.  It looked like their chances of reaching the league semi-final were about to disappear down the River Fertha along with their hopes, dreams and hard work of the past seven months, but desperate situations call for desperate measures – or is Plan B the answer?  One thing was clear and that was a swift response was needed and Park reacted.  Killeen was sprung from the bench to replace the tiring John O’Brien whose namesake Donagh was replaced in goal by Foley, with Donagh O’Brien taking over as leader of the attack.  Kelly, whose goals per game ratio has risen hugely this year was pushed into attack to support O’Brien, with the mercurial Sheehy in the “no 10” role behind these two.  Killeen slotted into midfield beside Howard and O’Leary as Park switched to 4-3-3 and chased the game with gusto.  O’Brien started to peel off the central defenders into the left-hand channel and this paid dividends almost immediately when Howard passed to Sheehy who picked O’Brien out with an astute pass and his first touch took him away from the defender before he placed his left foot finish back across the keeper to bring Park level.  Spurred on by their change of fortune, Park went for the jugular of the committed but tiring Iveragh side.  McGinley, Killeen and Howard were now pulling the strings and O’Brien twice powered his way in behind the Cahirciveen lads and centered for Kelly, but the keeper made two blinding saves to keep the score level.  Such sustained pressure had to tell however and Park finally got their reward when Kelly pulled the ball back to Killeen at the edge of the box and the diminutive wizard bent his shot into the far corner giving the heroic net-minder no chance.  Iveragh 1 Park 2.  Park were in no mood to give up their hard-won advantage on this occasion and inspired by Tansley “The Leader of the Back”, Howard dropped into defence as Park reverted to 3-5-2, with O’Leary now in central midfield.  Old habits still die hard though and Park continued to keep the ball well and still attacked with intent.  They got the reward  their performance deserved when yet another attack saw the ball break to Kelly in the box and the powerful midfielder made no mistake this time to leave the final score at Iveragh Utd 1 St Brendan’s Park 3. Park: Donagh O’Brien, Leen, McGinley, Tansley, Duggan, Foley, O’Leary, Howard, John O’Brien, Sheehy, Kelly, Killeen.
(U15) Kerry Cup, Last 16:
Killarney Celtic C 0-9 Park Fc A ,
Goals from Jakub Zlotocki (2), Niall Sertutxa (2), Thomas Burke (2), Jake Deering, Gearoid Fitzgerald and Dan Goggin gave Park a good start to their Kerry Cup campaign. The young home side battled well and were only one down after 30 minutes. However Park’s Jake Deering then stole the show for the last ten minutes of the half. Having set up the first for Jakub Zlotocki after nine minutes,  Deering gave yet another outstanding cross to set up Park’s second for Niall Sertutxa and then scored a superb goal himself. It was almost half time when he got on the end of a great ball from James Rusk and calmly finished the ball past Celtic’s good young keeper. When Zlotocki scored his second a minute into the second half it broke the brave resistance of the Killarney men. Thomas Burke, who played in goals in the first half, got the next two, one a superb free kick, the other a magnificent chip over the Celtic keeper and he then set up Gearoid Fitzgerald for a nice finish to make it seven.  Dan Goggin showed his class with a tidy finish for number eight and Niall Sertutxa scored on the break to wrap up a convincing win. Well done to all the lads for a fine performance and keeping their concentration throughout. We were solid at the back and patient when it was needed. Well done also to the Killarney team and mentors for a very sporting game. Thank you toigo, Tina, Anne and Fiona for driving today. As always parent’s help is much appreciated. Training on Tuesday at 7.40pm. Panel: Thomas Burke, Raul Vnczel, Matt Lukco, Kevin Browne, Adam Ward, James Rusk, Michael O’Gara, Jake Deering, Gearoid Fitzgerald, Niall Sertutxa, Jakub Zlotocki, Michael Slattery, Dan Goggin and Sean Carmody. Robin and Dylan were missing.
(U15) Kerry Cup, Last 16 ;
Park B 1-4 Tralee Dynamos A ,
On a lovely Saturday afternoon the game got underway  with the Park making a run up the wing  and the player being fouled, James takes the free kick and the ball comes in to Conor Higgins who puts it wide. This was a strong Dynamos team but Park were matching them  man for man as they made a run down the wing Park keeper David Oba came running out from his box to make a strong tackle on the attacker and prevent them from Scoring. Jack gets the ball and runs through the middle and passes to Nemanja who takes a shot but it’s saved .Conor O’Brien gets a ball over the top and runs on to it and shoots puts it in the back of the net but is ruled offside. From a corner  the ball lands in the six yard box and there is a couple of attempts till the ball comes to Aaron who puts it in the net despite shouts for offside to make it 1-0 Park. There were a few more attacks on the Dynamos  goal one being a great cross by Nemanja which saw Conor O’Brien heading it wide of the post. Dynamos mounted another attack down the wing and the ball came across the goal mouth and as the player beat the oncoming keeper to put the ball in Jack came running in and cleared it off the goal line. with half time approaching the ball came into the Park box and the kick bounced up and hit John on the arm and a penalty was awarded, which David Oba made a brilliant save but unfortunately the penalty taker was on hand to put the rebound in the net 1-1. The second half gets under way and some end to end attacks with the Park defence Dean ,James Jack and John clearing ball after ball. The midfield playing their part in particular Shane who headed and kicked every ball that came to him puts a ball through to Jamal whose shot goes wide. Dynamos are now putting the pressure on the Park team and Dean runs across and puts the ball out for a corner which they take and the ball comes into the box and  is headed into the net 1-2 Dynamos. Park clear ball after ball  but as a loose ball is picked up in midfield they take it forward and put it in the net 1-3 Dynamos . In the dying minute a shot comes in and is deflected of Dylan’s leg and into his own net to make the final score 1-4 Dynamos. The score did not reflect the game and Park were on top for most of the first half and can take pride in the way the whole team played against a very strong Dynamos premier team  and with a bit of luck it  would have  been a different story so well done lad’s. Team , David, James ,Jack, John, Aaron, Shane, Conor Higgins, Josh,  Nemanja, Conor O’Brien, Dean, Jamal , Dylan, Edward, Mike  . Shane Jordan was  Man of the match .
(U13) Kerry Cup, Last 16:
Park FC A 9 – 0 Castleisland ,
The park Lads welcomed Castleisland in the Round 16 of the Kerry Cup, both sides met in the semi final last seaon with the Park winning that clash, so the visitors were looking to avenge that defeat, but again the Park Lads were too strong particularly in the second half to run out comfortablle winners. With a severe wind helping the visitors the park Lads were under pressure at the back, upto the first 15min period both teams had chances with Castleisland probably having the best of the exchanges and deserved to be atleast 2 goals to the good but to be fair to Gavin in goals he was up to the task and made some great saves to keep the sides level during this period. The 15min mark and the game started to change in favour of the Park, with the lads struggling to get their game going it took a fine strike from Sean from a pinpoint pass from mervin to open the scoring 1-0 up, 2 mins later Mervin hit the net with a great thru ball from Rhys on the left side of defence, 2-0 to the park. The Park sored their third with a long overlapping run from Nathan to finish at the nearpost. 3-0 at the break.With the wind at their back and a commanding lead the park lads took over in all sectors of the pitch, Liam came in for an injured mervin and started to link up well with the front men, 3 mins in and liams persitance paid off with a fine ball to Sean who dispathed to the corner, 4-0 up. 5 mins in and Junior made a penetrating run from the back to pick out Conor who sidefooted with the outside of the right boot to the roof of the net, 5-0 and the game was over a s a contest, 5mins later Sean linked up with Liam to fire into the back of the net to make it 6-0. Tide came on for Nathan at centrehalf to strengthen the defence, The goal of the tie came on the 17min mark with a fine sequence of is time passing on the left started from Rhys into conor onto colin, with Rhys receiving the return on the overlap whipping the ball across goal to Sean who sidefooted to the net for his hatrick. 2 mins later Kevin finished to an empty net after slipping passed the keeper after a good one two with Liam, Sean finshed the scoring on the final whistle to make it 9-0. A good 2nd half performance from the lads to got thru to the next round of the Kerry Cup. Players of Note: Colin, Gavin, Armin, Liam,Tide, Rhys, .
