Under Eleven(2007)

Well done to both Park U11 and LB Rovers teams for playing some excellent football in their two games in Ballybunnion last Saturday.

It was great for both teams to overcome early difficulties playing on grass  to produce two very even and exciting games of football.

Thanks to our hosts for providing their pitch for the fixture. Well done to captains on the day Sam Slattery and Martin McGivern who both did the club proud. Congratulations to Man of the match Eugene in the A fixture and joint m.o.t.m. Oliver Lata and Eoin Flaherty in the B fixture.

Perfect conditions on a Saturday afternoonat Christy Leahy park for a game of soccer were out under 11b squad took on listowel celtic. The tone was set from the off with the park boys producing some great attacking play which continued throughout the game. The defence when called upon was rock solid and composed.

A very special mention to liam O’Connell who made the man of the match decision an easy one with an outstanding goalscoring performance from centre midfield. Big thanks to listowel for travelling in for the game and who performed very well considering they were short on subs and who’s keeper was oustanding.

U16 National Cup V Charleville

Our U16’s bowed out of the National Cup at the last 32 stage after a very poor second half performance saw the visitors score five unanswered goals at home on Saturday.
Having taken the lead after two minutes from our first corner of the game with a brave header from Terence Carmody, we dominated large part of the first half. Unfortunately we failed to use the strong breeze in our favour but were also unlucky on at least two occasions as John Carmody rattled the crossbar with the keeper stranded inside the first five minutes & later in the half when John’s goal bound shot ran along the face of goal.

Charleville also had chances in the half with Gavin Doody making a double save just before halftime but the visitors equalized just after when Gavin looked to have been fouled going for the ball from a corner.
HT 1 – 1

The second half was one way traffic for the most part & once Charleville went in front early from the restart they upped their game.

Two goals in four minutes finished the game as a contest & they saw out the game for a deserved victory on a final score line of 6 – 1 with the visitors centeforward scoring an absolute beauty into the top corner.

Credit to Colin Walsh, Andrew Murphy, Cian Purcell & our MOTM John Carmody who never stopped playing.

Also while we’re disappointed to be out of the competition, we had a great run &  it will benefit our lads in the long term as the standard is so high at this stage & our boys can see the level they need to reach.

Thanks to all the parents for providing food for the Charleville lads & also to the visitors for being so sporting in victory. We wish them well in the last sixteen.

We now await the winner of Killarney Celtic & Charleville to see who we will play in the Regional semis.

Youth Team (2001)

Munster Youth CupQuarter Final
Park FC 1 v 0 Ballingarry

Park deserved their narrow victory as they had the lions share of position and created the some good chances over the ninety minutes. Parks midfield three were on top thru out the game forcing Ballingarry into trying long range efforts that really never really tested Parks custodian Conor Hayes.Parks Jordan Barry and Aaron Ward forced Ballingarry keeper into acton but it was striker Conor O’Brien whom taught he had giving the Park the lead on thirty three minutes only to see his strike hit the underneath of the crossbar and shoot down hit the goal line and Ballingarry keeper cleared his line.
Second half Park were totally dominant with Adam Ward and JR Tshikato controlling midfield ,Parks Aaron Ward broke down the right wing beating two players and he picked out Conor O’Brien and his flick on fell to the incoming Adam Ward and he rifled the Park into the lead on the hour. Ballingarry tried hard to get back into the tie but Parks defense were resolute.Park will have to travel for semi final
Best for Park;JR Tshikato – Aaron Ward – Shane Jordan – James Sheehan
Man of Match;Adam Ward
