The training offers the learners an opportunity to:

·         Explore the role of the Garda Síochána in Irish Society

·         Exercise greater vigilance in terms of their own safety at home and out in the community and to be effective in accessing emergency services as appropriate

·         Develop awareness of the concept of a crime

·         Develop awareness of the meaning and consequences of vandalism

·         Foster greater awareness around the legal consequences of substance misuse

·         Be aware of their rights vis-á-vis law enforcement

·         See at first-hand what happens within a Garda Station

Members of the group were taken on a guided tour of the station and then they received certificates of attendance for their course.
