IT’S that time of year again when people gather over the weekend in KDYS Denny Street for the St. John’s Parish annual Bazaar.

Taking place from this Friday to Sunday, there will be plenty on offer – raffles and auctions galore – everything from 2019 All-Ireland Football tickets, hotel vouchers, meal vouchers, heating oil vouchers and household furnishings and, not least, our magnificent Christmas hamper raffles.

Last year, just over €40,000 was raised from the event. Doors open on Friday night at 7.30pm with a door prize of a €250 oil heating voucher.

It opens at 7pm on Saturday night with a door prize of two nights B&B for two at the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney. Then at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon there is a door prize a 42” television.

As the largest annual fundraising event for St John’s Parish, the proceeds go towards the annual upkeep of three churches within St John’s Parish (Church of the Immaculate Conception, Rathass, St Brendan’s, Curraheen and St John’s Church in Castle Street).

St. John’s Parish Bazaar began in 1951 and has always been generously supported by businesses and parishioners.  The bargains, the banter and social atmosphere have always attracted large crowds and the organisers have issued an invitation to all to  join them for a great time.
