Next week’s Lotto will have a Jackpot of €3,900 and the draw will take place this Sunday night Sept 17th in Keane’s Bar. Lotto tickets can be purchased online, from any club officer or at the following outlets: Seamus O’Sullivan Master Butchers, O’Sheas Shop and Service Station, Poff Motors, Noyeks, Byrnesworth, Rock Inn, Dwyer’s Bar, Skelper Quanes, Bettys Bar and Keane’s of Curraheen.

Juvenile Academy

U6: Our U6 Academy boys and girls had a good outing last thursday evening and everyone had lots of fun learning their skills. Academy resumes on Sunday at 10.30am on our astro pitch.

U8: The under 8 coaches Mike, Séamus and Seán were delighted with the number of players that turned up at the session last Thursday night as it was a change from our usual Sunday morning time. The rain that fell during our session didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of these footballers as they ran, passed and kicked their way through a great session of activity. Well done to all the under eight players and their parents for making the effort to be there.

Next Sunday it is planned to have a Go-game with Castlegregory in the football pitch at Camp Community Centre and the following week the Mitchel’s Blitz is scheduled for Saturday the 23rd September. This is a very well run blitz and our under eight players have enjoyed participating in it for the past few years. We will need all our current under eight players to be able to participate this year. Confirmation of these activities will be sent through the Club texting service.

To keep improving your skills don’t forget to do a least 10 minutes practice with a ball at home each day.

U10: St Pats U-10’s Academy were training again last Thursday evening on home turf. There was a good turnout of players all eager to show off their skills. It was great to see all the players putting in a huge effort especially Jack Costello, Rory Daly, Mark O’Brien and Caoilainn Culloo. We are due to play Annascaul in Camp next Sunday morning, 17th. In the meantime, it is important all our U10 players keep practicing their skills at home. Naomh Padraig Abú.

U12 Mixed: Central Region Laune Rangers C 3-14 St Pats 2-07

We played Laune Rangers C in the return fixture of the Central Region competition last Monday evening in Killorglin and were very competitive in patches in the first half with an improved performance in the second half where we both kicked 6 points apiece but our first half performance was a bit sloppy and we paid for it ultimately as we couldn’t close the gap in the second half. It was a disappointing result but an improved performance overall.

Scorers: Callum Houston (1-02), Fionn Dairo (1-0), Seanie Murphy (0-4) and Caoimhe Dairo (0-1).

We are at home to Na Gaeil in our last fixture in this competition this Monday, the 11th with an earlier throw in time of 6.30pm.

U12 Girls: Town League Division 2 “A” Final Churchill 3-03 St Pats 1-02

Our girls put in a good performance despite the wet and windy conditions last Sunday afternoon in Ballyrickard against a tough Churchill team but unfortunately, we came up short on the day. Our scores came from Siobhan O’Sullivan (1 goal), Caoimhe Dairo (1 point) and Grainne Breen (1 point). Overall, it has been a very good year for these dedicated 14 girls put together by Martina Dairo 5 months ago and they’ve already played in 2 finals – winning one and losing one. Hopefully this achievement will spur the girls on to even greater things next year.

U16: We played Austin Stacks last Wednesday in Round 1 of the Tralee Town Board League but lost to our opponents. A positive to be taken from the game was that we used the ball very well and competed for long periods of the game.

We drew a bye in round 2 and welcome neighbours, Kerins O’Rahillys to Blennerville next Sunday, the 17th at 12 noon.

Senior B

Our campaign in the Barrett Cup came to an end last Saturday evening in Blennerville when we lost our quarter-final tie against Clounmacon. The first half was a keen contest in which Eoin Greaney scored 4 of our sides 5 points with Eoghan Dillane being the other scorer. However, 4 of the 6 points scored by Clounmacon were cheap frees at the away side led by one point at the short whistle.

It was more of the same in the second half with both teams trading scores but Clounmacon scored the only goal of the match mid-way into the second half with our lads unable to force extra-time as we lost by a solitary point on a scoreline of St Pats 0-13 Clounmacon 1-11

Team: John Fitzgerald, Killian Quirke, Joe Costello, Simon Daughton, Joe O’Connor, Tommy Lynch, Brian Murphy, Liam Poff, Cillian O’Riordan, David Kerins, Eoghan Dillane, Jack Lynch, Eoin Greaney, Eoin Sayers

Subs: Sean Hogan, Sean Hayes

Family Fun Day

The very windy conditions did not deter the hardy faithfuls from participating in the 5Km walk last Sunday, which was in memory of our late friend and club stalwart, Tony O’Donoghue. Walkers were treated to refreshments provided by the parents, friends and well-wishers. All proceeds raised on the day will go towards the Palliative Care/Kerry Hospice.

Gym

A great way to burn calories and keep fit especially as the days are getting shorter is to avail of our gym facilities located in the old club house, now known as the community rooms. The gym is open to paid members only for insurance purposes and the times are Monday – Thursday @ 8.30-9.30pm and Saturday @ 5-6pm. Contact PJ Higgins or John Bowler Jnr for more details.

 Astro Pitch

Our all-weather astro pitch is available for hire at very competitive rates. It is flood-lit, so training or whatever use you may have for it can also be accomplished in the evenings now that the days are getting shorter. Contact James Costello on 0862908735 for booking and more information.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Aidan O Halloran, Derrymore, who won a County Junior Hurling Championship Medal on Friday night last when he lined out at left half forward for Ladies Walk in their victory over Duagh in the Final played at Abbeydorney. He also scored a point from play in the 2nd half.
