Academy

There was no Academy for our U6-U10’s last Sunday to allow the kids attend the blessing of school bags at mass on Sunday morning. However, our U8 and U10’s participated in the annual John Mitchels Blitz which took place the day before.

U8: We had a great turnout at the John Mitchels blitz last Saturday. We had a total of 18 players who played games against Kerins O’Rahillys, John Mitchels, Milltown/Castlemaine, Keel and Austin Stacks. Everyone tried their best and that’s all the coaches can ask for. Due to the blitz, there was no academy on the Sunday. Academy resumes this Sunday Sept 29th at the normal time of 10:30am.

U10: The Under-10s had an early start last Saturday morning as they gathered in the John Mitchels complex in advance of the annual Mitchels blitz. The scene was a hive of activity with both Under-8 and Under-10 teams from Tralee and all over the County warming up before their respective games started at 10:30. Even the weather was in obliging mood as the downpour which greeted our arrival slackened off in time for the throw-in. We had five tough games in all against Kerins O’Rahillys, John Mitchells, Milltown/Castlemaine, Keel and finally Cordal. All of these teams had large numbers of players allowing them to have the ability to have fresh players available for different games. So great credit to our limited panel of core players of Ródhan, James, Sharon, Aimee, Eddie, Stephen, and Chloe who turn up to all of our games – and to Rory, Ben and Luke for supplementing the squad – all them played well and battled away up to the last kick of their final game. With some injuries depleting the squad we drafted in some of the under-8’s at different stages so thanks to Paddy, Tommy and Blake who contributed so well when they joined us. It was great for our young players to get this amount of game time against such a variety of teams. Our thanks to the Mitchels club for organising the Blitz which was well organised and all the games ran to schedule. Finally thanks to the parents of the team members for getting them there and encouraging them to play.

Juveniles

U14 girls who won the Div 5 North Kerry Board Plate Final last week over Listowel Emmets B

U14 Girls: Well done to our U14 girls who won the Div 5 North Kerry Board Plate Final last Wednesday evening in Blennerville. Playing with only 13 girls, we overcame a strong Listowel Emmets B team on a score line of 4-01 to 3 goals. This is the second trophy they’ve won this year, adding to their County Title won earlier in the summer. Huge credit to this bunch of determined girls who epitomise heart, skill and team work in every game they play.
