Juvenile Academy

U10: St Pats U-10’s traveled to Ballyheigue by the sea last Monday to take part in a Fun Go Games blitz against Ardfert, Churchill and Ballyheigue. All our St Pats future stars played very well on the evening.

Some of the highlights were Luke Passways great saves while he was in goals; Rory Daly’s accurate hand passes; Mark O’Brien’s accurate kick passes; Michael Enright’s near hand dispossession of opponents, Daniel Sheehy’s overhead catches, Grainne Breen’s powerful long kicks;  Jack Costello, fresh from warm weather training, showed he didn’t lose his goal scoring touch; Darragh Murphy’s well timed block downs; Kayla O’Connors excellent tackling; Gary Scollard’s determination to kick a goal; Killian O’Mahony’s lovely catch from the throw up followed by his great kick over the bar.

A special thanks to Rory Kelliher and Eddie Stack for helping us out on the night. Rory displayed great bravery diving on the boots of his opponents to prevent scores while Eddie as usual had his hands in at every opportunity dispossessing his opponents.

The coaches were delighted with effort each player gave on the evening. We are currently on a break in our academy so it’s important all our players keep practising their skills at home during the summer. Play safe, see ye all in a few weeks. Naomh Padraig Abú…

U12 Girls: There will be U12 training for girls this Thursday at 6pm on the field. Any girls living in the local area and aren’t attached to any GAA club are more than welcome to join this exciting and talented group of young girls.

U12 Mixed: We will be competing in Div. 4 of the Central Region League and are grouped with Na Gaeil and Laune Rangers C, with the games being played on a home and away basis. Our first match is on Monday, the 14th of August when we welcome Laune Rangers C to Blennerville with throw in time to be confirmed. Training continues on the usual days and times.

U16: Last Wednesday evening in Ballyduff, we played Ballyduff in a Round 5, Division 6 encounter in the County League and it was a game of 2 halves. A stunning display by our lads saw us ahead by 10 points by the end of the first half. However, playing against the wind in the second half, Ballyduff managed to claw their way back into the game and eventually won on a score line of Ballyduff 4-12 St Pats 5-08.

Our next game is this Wednesday against Kilgarvan/Tuosist at home with a throw in time of 7pm.
