St pats 5-12
Asdee/ Ballylongford 5-14

The u 12s hosted Asdee/ Ballylongford tonight in the field and were very unlucky not to come away with a win.We had a great start with a great ball in resulting in a well taking goal from colin Doody who was also playing soccer for kerry today. This was followed by a well taken soccer style  goal from David.
Our defenders in the  form of Matthew Quilter, brothers Liam and Micheal ,Oisin ,Daniel and Shane all performed great as did Nathan in goals who blocked several balls. Asdee /ballylongford broke the defence and scored a a point ,good work again  from Thomas ,Danny and David set up a well taken point from Cillian Lynch which was followed by a another point from Thomas, Diarmuid, Corey, Sean and jade all did very well in the forwards and got plenty of the ball when they were introduced .All the hard work by the team paid off with another well taken goal from cillian after a great ball from Danny. This was followed by a couple of pints from Asdee/Ballylongford  but st pats replied with another goal from colin after great work from Danny and tThomas .Great defending again from Nathan Daniel, micheal and liam.

After Asdee-ballylonford scoring a few points and a goal st pats followed this with an individual effort from  Thomas resulting in a goal followed by a points from Danny ,Thomas and Colin and David. This was a great display by all from 1 to 19 and it was end to end stuff from both sides but sadly time ran out for st pats and they lost by 2 points but showed great heart. It was a great preformance by all and was a great evening for all the supporters who were there.

St pats 5-3
Beaufort 1-2

A truly memorable day took place on Saturday in the history of St pats football club and it will go down as a win of epic proportions. There was  a great sense of pride and delight after this game which went to extra time but the heart and spirit of this great team won out in the end. Considering the struggles of last year with lack of games and struggling with numbers there is great credit due to both the team of lads and the management team of Joe,Brendan and Maurice and it looks like this team will see many more big days on the field of play. Beaufort were strong favourites for this game coming from division 3 and with us playing in division 8 ,they were a very strong and physical team but the heart shown by our boys won out in the end. First ten minutes saw Gavin and his strong backs under extreme pressure but they worked hard and managed to hold them but the first score came from a Beaufort point.

Gavins kick outs again were brilliant and found a st pats player every time. With the help of his backs such as the lion hearted Damien, Martin and Ciaran they with stood the pressure and cleared ball after ball. Brian ,Cathal and the the brother pairing of Niall and Ian ran themselves in to the ground in this half and used the ball wisely when they got it. All the backs and Gavin in goals were soaking up the pressure very well untill a controversial decision afforded Beaufort a goal. St pats were rattled but like true champions they rallied and Fergal and Ali got in to their stride around the middle of the field spraying the ball around with great ease ,these two have great engines and again showed this on the day. A great clearance from Damien resulted in our first score and it was an individual run from Patrick that resulted in a penalty for us. Patrick who was unlucky before this for another goal stepped up and sloted it to the back of the net but for some reason this was disallowed and had to be retaken but like a true gooch patrick stepped up and again slotted it home.

Game on we were back in this game. This great team were getting in to this game now after  a slow start our forwards were making great runs for the backs and they linked up well as always with Ali,Fergal and Ian.Cormac and samuel  played their  usual game of winning balls and Cormac  was able to win his  amount of frees which helped our forward line. ran up and down the field grabbing ball after ball  and letting it in to the great full forward line  of Patrick and Thomas and Micheal who had several attempts of scores  but were unlucky. We had a few chances to level this game and came very close on several occasions but between hitting the post and wides  our luck was running out. The ref said two minutes left so time was running out but up stepped the one and only Fergal and cooly popped the ball over the bar draw game and extra time here we go.

We had ten mins of extra  time to keep the dream alive and the first minute a great block from the power house of Martin resulted in a point from Fergal and this was followed by a great goal by Patrick  to the delight of samuel who followed this with a goal and  who did a flip that all the great footballers would be proud of  a great celebration.  Now this great team were motoring and from 1 to 15 everyone played their part all our backs which now included paddy had now come to grips with this Beaufort team ,Fergal followed up with a goal  which he followed up with a second goal after receiving a great ball from Ali .We were cruising at this stage now but the team kept their cool head s and continued to clear their lines time after time .The management introduced some subs of James in goals who did all that was asked of him.

The final whistle went and the atmosphere in the field was  at a level that hasn’t been seen in the field in a long time ,this was an epic win and the team and management deserved it after a hard fought game. From 1 to 20 they all played their part .Gavin in goals played very well and his kick outs resulted in some scores ,james took over in the second half and did his bit too.Our backs as always played with great heart and determination with Ciaran ,Damien, Niall clearing ball after ball Brian ,Martin  and Cathal ran themselves in to the ground and linked up well with the full back line ,paddy came on in the second half  and also played well. Our two  great engines at midfield of Ian and Ali  rose to the challenge again when the pressure was on and Fergal and ali stepped it up when needed.our forwards of Cormac ,Fergal Samuel ,Thomas ,Patrick and Micheal played fantastic as always linking up well and setting up some great scores .

Our final was against the very strong stacks team who were much too strong for us but as the have done all year and in every game they showed great heart even when they were well down. They still showed great heart and character and showed that even when loosing they continued to show what a great team they are.The hard work was done at this stage and feile dream was alive and well after the first victory.Stacks were just too strong for us but the hype of the first game and the epic win canceled out this loss. congrats to stacks on a great win .But the story of the day has to be this great team who are now on a serious roll of wins ,the heart and spirit they all show is really something to be proud of by their management team .This team will go far and we will be cheering on these players in the future in croke park when they will be wearing the green and gold of kerry. It is a pleasure to watch them and they are doing the parish proud and keeping martina
kelliher and all the supporters happy. And we will have the one Danny g back for the next game who was sick Saturday and he was missed . St pats abu

Minors:

Co League Div 5, Round 5.

St Pats 4-18  Asdee/Ballylongford 1-16

Our Minors continued on their winning ways on Friday last, when they defeated an understrength Asdee/Ballylongford in Round 5 of the County League at Blennerville.

The visitors got off to a flying start and had four points on the scoreboard inside the first five minutes.

However, we gradually settled into the game and by the 10th minute we had the deficit cut to the bare minimum after Brandon Boyle [2] and Jack Quilter [1] pointed for us.

One minute later Aidan O’Halloran with a well taken goal after being set up by Killian O’Riordan put us into the lead for the first time in the game.

We proceeded to notch the next six scores [points] in the space of 10 minutes, courtesy of Brandon [2], Aidan [3] and Kieran Dwyer [1] and appeared to be firmly in the driving seat.

However, a ball that should have been cleared by us, was fumbled and in the ensuing play Asdee/Bally pegged back a goal, followed quickly by a point to leave just 4 points between the sides with 5 minutes remaining to the short whistle.

Wing Back, Bryan Murphy burst forward to score a good point.

This was quickly followed by points from Tommy Lynch and Gearoid Dillane.

On the stroke of half time, the visitors converted an excellent 45 to leave the interval scoreline

St Pats 1-12 Asdee/Bally 1-6.

Within 3 minutes of the resumption we were leading 3-12 to 1-8, thanks to goals from Jack [after an excellent burst through the visitors defence] and Aidan punching the ball in flight to the net after being set up by Josh Laucher.

These early 2nd half goals helped give us a comfortable enough cushion for the remainder of the contest, but due credit to Asdee/Bally who kept battling to the end.

Our Centre Back, Sean Dowling also got his name on the scoresheet with a point in this half as did  Substitute Shane O’Donoghue who scored our 4th goal in the 20th minute, when he latched on to a sideline kick from the excellent Jordan Conway.

Overall it was a good display from our lads on what was a beautiful sunny evening for football.

Full credit due to both sets of players and referee Eddie Walsh for an entertaining and sporting game.

Some of the point scoring from both play and 45s by both sides was out of the top drawer.

We wish a speedy recovery to Sean Hogan and Brandon Boyle who picked up slight knocks during the game.

We now march on to the Div 5 Final against the winners of the Beale V Asdee/Ballylongford Semi-Final, which is scheduled for this Friday 24th April.

Junior Championship Round 1

St Pats 4-05      Templenoe 3-14

For the second year in a row St Pats made the long trip south to Templenoe for the first round of this year’s Junior Championship. On a perfect day for football St Pats started the game brightly and played their best football in the initial 20 minutes. Templenoe opened the scoring with two early points (one free) from Kilian Spillane Kieran Hurley cancelled out these 2 scores and put St Pats ahead with a point in the 13th minute.  Willie Hurley who was winning every ball coming his way rattled the net with a well taken goal on the quarter mark. Kieran Hurley added a further point a minute later with Killian Spillane keeping Templenoe in touch with a point on 18 minutes. St Pats were now in control all over the pitch with Michael O’Sullivan in particular playing well around the middle. Templenoes full  back line were all at sea in this period and when Gary ‘’Lar’’ Savage was dragged down in the penalty area after twenty minute  Kieran Hurley made no mistake with the resultant kick to leave the scores St Pats 2-03 Templenoe 0-03. Gary ‘’Lar’’ Savage kicked a further point a minute later and it looked as if the game might be swinging St Pats way. Templenoe had other ideas and upped their game Killian Spillane closed the gap with a goal in the 22nd minute and it was game on again. Disaster was to strike for St Pats on the 25th minute when influential midfielder Michael O’Sullivan was black carded for an awkward challenge. Templenoe pressed forward at every opportunity and added further points from Teddy Doyle, Killian Spillane (2 frees) and a point from Stephen O’Sullivan. St Pats were afforded a further lifeline on the 30th minute when Willie Hurley was felled inside the box and the resultant kick was well dispatched by Kieran Hurley to leave the half time score St Pats 3-04  Templenoe  2-06

Templenoe started the second half in determined fashion and were level after 4 minutes from a Cian Hallissey free. Kerry minor star Stephen O’Sullivan came storming into the game in this period and put Templenoe ahead with a well taken goal and point inside the next three minutes this was added to by full back John Spillane who moved out the field at the start of the second half.  The early ball into the Hurley brothers was still causing problems for Templenoe and Willie Hurley took advantage of this with St Pats fourth goal on the three quarter mark to leave the scores St Pats 4-04 Templenoe 3-09  Stephen O’Sullivan kicked three further points over the next  ten minutes with St Pats only reply being a Kieran Hurley free. Templenoe were now rampant moving the ball at ease with St Pats chasing shadows. Two further points from Gavin Crowley and Killian Spillane left the final score St Pats 4-05 Templenoe 3-14

Templenoe were deserved winners of this game and St Pats can have no complaints with the result. St Pats got off to a tremendous start going 7 points up at one stage. The early loss of David O’Callaghan with a recurring hamstring injury and the black card received by Michael O’Sullivan was to prove costly. Templenoe never gave up and seem to have huge belief in themselves. They will however be concerned with the concession of four goals and their full back line appears to be their Achilles heel. The theatrics of Adrian Spillane in injury time at the end of the game could easily land him an Oscar nomination

Best for St Pats on the day were Luke Mulligan, Paul McMahon, Jordan Conway (1st half), Kevin O’Shea, Andy Byrne, Michael O’Sullivan, Kieran Hurley, Willie Hurley and Gary ‘’Lar ‘’ Savage

Templenoe had good performances from John Spillane (2nd half), Tadgh Morley, Gavin Crowley, Cian Hallissey, Teddy Doyle, Killian Spillane, Adrian Spillane and Man of The Match Stephen O’Sullivan

St Pats –  J Fitzgerald, J Conway, P Mc Mahon, L Mulligan, L Poff, Kevin O’Shea, A Byrne, J Foley, M O’Sullivan, D O’Callaghan, A Greaney, B Poff, L O’Sullivan, K Hurley, W Hurley.
