Rule Change

As from January 1st, a rule change has been introduced to Gaelic Football: The ball shall travel not less than 13m and outside the 20m line before being played by another player on the defending team.

The penalty for breaching this rule is that the kickout will be cancelled and the ball thrown-in on the defending teams 20m line in front of the scoring space.

Jimmy Duffy Memorial Cycle

Calling all cyclists, dust down the bikes as the Jimmy Duffy Memorial Cycle takes place Saturday, January 13th at 11:00am from St. Pat’s GAA Club, Blennerville.

The cycle will travel to Castleisland town centre and home followed by deserved refreshments, tea and coffee in Quanes Bar Blennerville. Enquiries to Maurice Hanafin @ (087)2998206 and George Poff @ (087)6814799.

Unfortunately due to the provision of Insurance and Ambulance services, a fee of €5 per person to a maximum of €15 per family will be charged on the day. Last year over 70 cyclists didn’t register and left us struggling to pay expences. Registration will commence from 10:00am. See you there. This is a nonprofit fun cycle led by various pace cars.

The celebrations will continue on Saturday night with anniversary Mass in Curraheen at 8pm, a music session in Quanes Bar, where food & refreshments will be served. Keep the date free & come out to celebrate the memory of local man Jimmy Duffy. All are welcome.
