U-14’s: St Pats 2-10, Duagh 3-3

St Pats under 14s fought hard for a victory in a home venue on the 29 th of April in poor enough conditions against a very strong duagh side. Again from no 1 to no 21 all played well and dug out what was to be a great win in the end. It was a very close game with st pats defenders of  ciaran ,Damien ,Cathal , Brian and martin and with the help of james in goals all playing very well and clearing ball after ball.

Our first score came from Ian who along with Ali and fergal delivered quality ball in to the forwards, these three were the link from the forwards to the backs and covered alot of ground on the night .The remaining forwards of patrick who quickly followed our first score up with a goal and also set up another for Tomas  who cooly slotted home past the duagh goalie. A cleared ball from the backs made its way up the wing to cormac who was making great runs in to space on the night,he  passed it on to fergal who kicked a great point which was followed by
points from Ian and Patrick .

The second half saw duagh start brightly with our backs and goalie who was Gavin for this half soaking up the pressure . Some changes were made and Paddy, Jamie ,Michael , David ,Samuel  and Danny being introduced .

Jamie and samuel were causing trouble for duagh but duagh managed to break the defence and score two quick goals and a point which was answered with a point from Fergal. A third goal by Duagh and our backs were really under pressure now but like all good footballers the team rallied and the great defending of damien stormed up the field with the ball to score a great point to give the team the boost they needed.

This was followed by two more points from Tomas  and fergal as a result of good defending from paddy. All in all a good night out for this spirted team who are improving with every match and it is great to see some new faces and plenty of players turning up.They now have a home venue next Wednesday night against Ballyheigue in the semi final and ye should all turn out to see them ,it will be worth your while .

Minors:

St Pats 0-7 Beale 0-7

Wet and windy Ballyduff was the venue on Tuesday last for the Division 5 County Minor League Final.

Huge credit is due to both sets of players for producing an absorbing contest in terrible weather conditions on the night.

The North Kerry side seemed to adjust better to these conditions and were  two points to nil up, by the 7th minute.

For the remainder of the half, both sides were guilty of wayward shooting, particularly St Pats.

Disaster struck for us in the 15th minute when one of our forwards was deservedly red carded following an incident in front of the stand, albeit the opponent he got entangled with, was fortunate not to be more severely reprimanded earlier in the game.

Symptomatic of our performance on the night, was the fact that our first score didn’t arrive until the 26th minute, courtesy of a point from play by easily the best player on the pitch, Jordan Conway, after he latched on to a free taken by Kieran Dwyer.

Less than a minute later, Kieran again took another quick free and found Sean Dowling in space who duly equalised the game with a point from play.

Half Time Score: St Pats 0-2 Beale 0-2.

By the 12th minute of the 2nd half we had outscored Beale three points to one to take a two point lead.

Two of those points came from frees, from the boot of Brandon Boyle and the other from play from Jack Quilter.

In the 15th minute our keeper, Sean Hogan made a spectacular catch in his own square when a dangerous ball was delivered in with force.

However, the Ballybunnion side kept attacking and were rewarded with two more points from frees [ significantly all of Beale scores on the night came from frees] to level the game, ten minutes from full time.

St Pats responded well with two pointed frees from Jordan after fouls on himself and Jack respectively in the 22nd and 27th minutes.

As expected, our opponents refused to throw in the towel and pointed two more frees in injury time to level the match.

The game now goes to a replay, with a date, time and venue to be confirmed.
