Juvenile Academy

U6: It was great to get outdoors to such a fantastic facility at St Pats this morning. We had an excellent turnout with loads of space to practice out ball skills, jumping & evasion skills today. Special mention to the girls today for great listening & attention. The outstanding player today was Killian Enright who was well deserved player of the week.
Hope to see you at 6pm on Good Friday where I hear we may have a visit from club mascot ‘Foxy’!

U8: Our under 8 player of the week was Lainey Costello. Lainey excelled at last week’s session and showed great enthusiasm to participate even though she had a plaster cast on one hand. Last week was the first of our outdoor academy sessions and what a lovely fine morning it was to be outside. Now that we have moved to our outdoor sessions here is a reminder to wear a gum-shield. It is very important for injury prevention and insurance purposes that players wear gum-shields at training and football games.

We had a little surprise for our under 8 players as we gave each of them a First Touch football to use at training and also to practice with at home. So we hope with being on school holidays that these footballs are getting plenty of use at home. Don’t forget to bring your football to training sessions. Our Academy session this week will be on Good Friday at the St Pats grounds at 6pm and there won’t be a session Easter Sunday morning.

Kerry GAA are organising a 7 a-side Under 8 football blitz to be held in Tralee on Wednesday 4th April from 2pm to 5pm. We have commitment from a good number of our under 8 players to participate and will be delighted to have more join us, keep up to date with arrangements on the Club Facebook page.

U10: Another great session was enjoyed by this young group of emerging stars, with a lot of fun and games had during the hour as they had their training outdoors on the field. It is great and encouraging to see all the kids improving weekly. Due to next Sunday being Easter Sunday, training will be on Good Friday instead at 6pm on the field.

U12: The St. Pats under 12’s Boys & Girls were training last week and everyone put in a great effort practicing their skills at training with Eddie Stack, Orlaith Murphy, Fionn Dairo and Daniel Sheehy giving it their all during the session. It is important that ye all keep attending training so we’ll be ready for the county league games when they kick off on the 8th of April. We hope to see ye all as training continues on our Astro pitch this Monday 26th of March at 3.45pm to 4.45pm and again Good Friday the 30th at 5.45pm to 6.45pm.

St Pats U14 girls that were a part of the Kerry U13 Development squad that played against Limerick in Duagh last Saturday.

U14 Girls: We had yet another great turn out last Sunday morning under the blazing sunshine with the morning’s session held on the field for the first time this year. There will be no training on Easter Sunday, however, training will be on Easter Monday at 12noon on the pitch.

U14 Boys: We welcomed Churchill to Blennerville last Monday afternoon in a town league encounter. Playing with a depleted squad took a toll on our players as Churchill proved to be too strong in the end. Thanks to the U12 players who helped make up the team.
Team: Daniel Moriarty, Shane Howarth, Paddy Moran, Eddie Stack, Corey O’Shea, Josh Quilter, Cillian Lynch, Liam O’Sullivan, Thomas Sheehy, Seanie Murphy, Callum Hayes, Zach Howarth, Callum Houston.

Sub: Adam Mulvihill

Our next game is in the County League and we welcome Dromid Pearses to Blennerville on Wednesday, the 28th at 6.30pm. Best of luck to all involved.

U16: Our U16’s play Austin Stacks B on Monday, the 26th March in Blennerville in the Central Region Division 3 Competition at 6.15pm. Also in our division are Dingle, Castle Island Desmonds, Milltown/Castlemaine and John Mitchels. Best luck to all involved.

Minors

We played West Kerry neighbours, Annascaul/Lispole last Monday in Blennerville but the away side took all the points on offer as they ran out comfortable winners.

We have a back game which has been fixed for Friday, 30th March when we will be away to Beaufort. Throw in time for that match is 5pm.

Seniors

Div 3 round 2 SFL

St Pats 0-9 Brosna 0-9

St Pats and Brosna shared the spoils in this low scoring encounter played in Blennerville under sunny conditions last Sunday afternoon.

St Pats captain, David O’Callaghan registered the first point of the game from a free within a minute and he doubled his scores to leave the home side 2 points up after the first 10 minutes.

Tom McGoldrick pointed from a free three minutes after to get his side on the score board. The match was levelled after 19 minutes through Kieran O’Donnell and they went in search of the lead, which was rewarded when Tom again pointed from a free after Eamon Kiely was fouled.

St Pats levelled after 27 minutes when Kieran Dwyer carried the ball from well over 20 metres and passing to Paul McMahon who pointed under pressure from 2 markers. Brosna ended the half with 2 unanswered points from Patrick Moriarty’s fisted effort and Adam Barry to take a 0-5 to 0-3 lead to the break.

St Pats came out trying to reduce the deficit but were met by a blanket defence set up by Brosna, forcing the St Pats forwards to shoot from long range. Brosna scored the first 2 points of the half to further stretch their lead to 4 points with 16 minutes of the half played.

St Pats Willie Hurley and Liam O’Sullivan from long range scored in quick succession top close the gap to 2 but Tom McGoldrick had other ideas when he pointed from a free to leave the side 3 points up.

St Pats sensing defeat went in search of scores and up stepped Paul McMahon scoring 3 unreplied points within a 5 minute period to level the game with only 3 minutes of normal time left.

Luke Mulligan nudged St Pats ahead on the stroke of normal time but Brosna’s persistence paid off when captain Adam Barry levelled from a free in injury time to leave the match at 9 points apiece.

This was a game that could have gone either way with inspirational performances from St Pats duo of Paul McMahon and Kieran Dwyer. Brosna’s star performers were Tom McGoldrick and captain Adam Barry.

St Pats: John Fitzgerald, Tommy Lynch, Kieran Dwyer, Joe O’Connor, Jake Foley, Brendan Poff, Sean Dowling, Liam O’Sullivan (0-1), Paul McMahon (0-4), Luke Mulligan (0-1), David O’Callaghan(C) (0-2, 1f), Gary Savage, Breandáin Savage, Eoin Greaney, Jordan Conway

Subs: Willie Hurley (0-1) for Jordan Conway, Brian Murphy for Jake Foley, Shane Jordan for Breandáin Savage
