Juveniles

U6: We had good numbers in the rain this morning with 17 boys & girls training in under 6s. Good to see lots of boys & girls back enjoying football after the summer holidays, all very active & healthy. We are enjoying getting faster, jumping & landing better & improving our balance. The boys & girls have great attention and are following instruction very well. We worked on circuit drills of evasion, kicking, bouncing, catching & speed. Great to see most of the boys & girls opting for match play & getting stuck in!! Our player of the week, Austin Flynn joined in the full session for his first time, dressed the part for Kerry, he impressed with his speed & kicking skills that he has been practicing at home!
Special mention to Clodagh Kane also for really improving running & jumping & lateral stepping skills. Well done to all, see you next week

U8: Well done to Rían Flynn who received the Player of the Week trophy at our academy session last Sunday. Rían puts in a lot of practice at home and it shows in his catching and kicking during our sessions, so keep the practice up Rían.

The Annual John Mitchels football blitz is scheduled for Saturday 15th September and we are planning to participate in the games for the under eight’s. This is a well organised blitz that St Pats have been invited to and enjoyed participating in for the past few years so we hope that all of our under eight players will be available for the games on the 15th September.

U10: Our U10’s had a good training session sharpening their skills under the watchful eyes of Seamus and Conor. A lot of fun was had with various drills to further improve their skills.

With the annual John Mitchels Blitz coming up soon, it is essential that every child keeps practicing their skills at home. Training continues next Sunday at 10.30am on the pitch.

U14 Girls: Our girls took on neighbours, Kerins O’Rahillys B in Round 4 of the North Kerry Board last Thursday in Blennerville. It was a tough but fantastic game of football with both teams giving it their all, making it a very pulsating match right to the end.

We dominated for most parts of the first half and led by 6points at the end of the short whistle. Our opponents came out in the second half determined to claw back the deficit and they put our defence under pressure but with some excellent general play, great scores, great defending by our backs and some fine saves by our goal keeper, we managed to win by the slimmest of margins as the match ended on a score line of St Pats 4-11 Kerins O’Rahillys B 6-04.

Team and scorers: Emily Roche, Orlaith Murphy, Aoibhin Corridan, Ailbhe Daly, Grace O’Brien, Caoimhe O’ Sullivan, Rachel Mulgrew, Keelin Enright (1-00), Lisa Rowan (0-04), Kayla O’Connor, Caoimhe Dairo (2-07), Siobhan O’ Sullivan, Sarah Brett, Emma Healy, Sinead Murphy (1-00)

Sub: Mia O’Brien for Sarah Brett

Our next game will be at away to Annascaul this Wednesday, September 5th at 7

U14 Boys: Our boys are training under the watchful eyes of their coaches in preparation for the U14 St Brendans League where we will be playing in Group 2 against Churchill and Ballyheigue on Sunday 16th September in Blennerville at 12 noon. We wish the team the best of luck in this competition.

Minors

We played Castlegregory away last Monday evening in Division 3 of the Central Region Competition. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a good night for us as we were defeated by a very good side but our boys gave a very good account of themselves despite missing a number of players and with only one sub available. Despite the loss, we still qualified for the semi-final where we will play away to Annascaul/Lispole this Thursday, the 6th September at 7pm with extra time if required. Venue for this fixture is Annascaul.

Senior B Team

We exited the Barrett Cup without kicking a ball due to our inability to field a team last Friday against Spa, who couldn’t commit to another date during the week.

Minor Football Championship

Best of luck to Fergal O’Brien and the St Brendans minor panel as they face St Kieran’s in the semi-finals of the Minor Football Championship this Wednesday, the 5th of September at 6pm in Austin Stack Park.

Senior Football Championship

Following their defeat against a good East Kerry side last Saturday, St Brendans now face Shannon Rangers in Round 2B of the Senior Football Championship the weekend of 8/9th September with extra-time to be played if required. Date and venue yet to be confirmed as at going to press. We wish the panel, especially the St Pats contingent the best of luck for this must win fixture.

Congratulations

Congratulations to the Kerry Minor team and management on winning a historic fifth successive Tom Markham title. The future definitely looks bright for The Kingdom!

Congratulations to St Pats players, Caoimhe Dairo and Keelin Enright who played for the Kerry U13 Girls Development Squad last Saturday in the Munster Blitz held in Mallow. Both players played very well and contributed greatly to their team winning all 4 of their matches.
