Lotto tickets can be purchased online, from any club officer or at the following outlets: Seamus O’Sullivan Master Butchers, O’Sheas Shop and Service Station, Poff Motors, Noyeks, Byrnesworth, Rock Inn, Dwyer’s Bar, Skelper Quanes, Bettys Bar and Keane’s of Curraheen.

U6: We had a fun session with great numbers this morning & loads of help from parents. The kids are enjoying getting fitter, more flexible & stronger every week. We are practicing running in different directions, weight bearing shoulder exercises & landing from jumps in good technique. The kicking & evasion & speed drills are really improving. Those who wanted to play a match had a high energy game with the others having fun & games on the grass.
Player of the week goes to Clodagh Kane for great determination to play matches despite a ball in the face in goals she picked herself up & played on with no tears!
Well done to all, see you next week

U8: Our U8 boys and girls had a good turn out last Sunday morning. Well done to all who attended, especially our player of the week Cian, and a huge thanks to the coaches.

The Annual John Mitchels football blitz is scheduled for Saturday 15th September and we are planning to participate in the games for the under eight’s. This is a well organised blitz that St Pats have been invited to and enjoyed participating in for the past few years so we hope that all of our under eight players will be available for the blitz.

U10: Our U10’s had a good training session sharpening their skills under the watchful eyes of their coaches. A lot of fun was had with various drills to further improve their skills.

With the annual John Mitchels Blitz coming up this Saturday, it is essential that every child keeps practicing their skills at home.

U14 Girls: Our girls took on Annascaul in Round 5 of the North Kerry Board last Tuesday in Annascaul. It was a competitive match with some great scores and play by both sides but we fell short on the day. Well done to the girls for displaying great courage despite our lack of numbers.

There is still a match to be played in this competition, details of which will be made known next week.

U14 Boys: Our boys are training under the watchful eyes of their coaches in preparation for the U14 St Brendan’s League where we will be playing in Group 2 against Churchill and Ballyheigue this Sunday 16th September in Blennerville at 12 noon. We wish the team the best of luck in this competition.

Great win by our minors in the semi-final of the Central Region Competition, division 3 against the much fancied Annascaul/Lispole last Wednesday evening. The crowds were treated to a pulsating encounter that could have gone either way but fortunately for us, we came out on the right side of this high scoring match. Final score was Annascaul/Lispole 4-12 St Pats 5-12. This victory meant we were to play Castlegregory in the finals on Sunday.

Fresh from our victory during the week, we took on Castlegregory last Sunday in the final of Division 3 of the Central Region Competition in Austin Stacks Park but unfortunately could reproduce the heroics of during the week as we were defeated by a stronger Castlegregory side. Well done to the players and management team on getting this far and we wish the players the best for the coming season.

Minor Football Championship

Hard luck to the St Brendan’s Board Minor team and management as they exited the MFC last Wednesday evening, losing to St Kierans by the narrowest of margins on a score line of St Kierans 2-11 St Brendan’s Board 2-10.

Senior Football Championship

Well done to the St Brendan’s Board Senior team and management on their convincing win against Shannon Rangers last Saturday evening in Tarbert. Final scores were Shannon Rangers 0-16 St Brendan’s Board 6-11. This victory sees them through to the 3rd round where they will play Mid-Kerry the weekend of 15th/16th September. As at the time of going to press, the date, time and venue were yet to be confirmed.

Tony O’Donoghue Memorial Walk

The wet weather didn’t deter locals and well-wishers alike who turned up in large numbers for The Tony O’Donoghue Memorial walk last Saturday evening. The walk which began at 5pm from the Windmill car park, headed back the canal, through the lock gates and in by the white wall, through Lohercannon and back to the windmill via Hare Street was circa 5km. There was music later in Quanes and the signed jersey was won by Helen Moriarty. All money raised on the day will go to the Palliative Care Unit/Kerry Hospice Foundation. Organiser and daughter of late Tony, Andrea, was “grateful and overwhelmed for the support” is already looking forward to it next year.
