Dingle Way Challenge 2019

Plans for the biggest and best DWC so far are well underway.  The date is set for June 2nd (keep that date free and marked in your diaries and calendars). And as usual, there will be two challenges: The standard DWC, which is has a choice of 2 options – Option 1 is a 31km walk with the route going from from Ballyferriter to Dingle, and there will be return buses to Blennerville available from Dingle; Option 2 is a 53km walk from Ballyferriter to Annascaul (again, there will be buses available to Blennerville from Annascaul). Please note that buses will leave from Blennerville at 7am sharp for this option.

And then we have the ultra route, which is 60km. This option starts at 5.45am at Murragh walk via Smerwick Harbour and Slea Head and on to Duncaoin for breakfast at Krugers, from where the walk takes you around Slea Head and on to Ventry and to Dingle for lunch. The ultra walkers will leave Dingle on the old Connor Pass road and turning east along the high road with takes in the spectacular views of Dingle Bay via Lispole and Minard with the walk finishing in Annascaul.

The DWC registration is now open via www.spatsgaaclub.com with an early bird offer of €45 if you register before the 30th of April or €50 if you register on or after the 1st of May.

Juvenile Academy

U6: We had a fun session to finish off our indoor training this morning. We’re looking forward to more space and less noise on our AstroTurf pitch!!
We did a circuits based session this morning with stations of ball handling, agility, kicking & goal scoring. Great to see the practice paying off & kicking skills improving. Particular mention to Tommy Flynn & Austyn Flynn & Aaron Costello for practicing their kicking skills which are improving every week. Paddy Costello showed he’s been practicing at home with much improved timing of kicking, great attention today earned him the player of the week trophy.
Don’t forget outdoors next week in Blennerville at 10.30am and get your St Pats gear ready for the St Patricks’s Day Parade for plenty of fun & treats!! Gooo St Pats

U8: The enthusiasm of our under eight players continues to shine at our weekly Sunday morning sessions in the Cumann Iosaef Hall. Last Sunday we had a very good attendance and it is becoming more obvious that some of our players are practising at home during the week. Great effort was put in by all during the session. We are moving outdoors to our astro turf in St Pats from Sunday, the 3rd of March at 10.30am.

U10: Another great session was enjoyed by this young group of emerging stars, with a lot of fun and games had during the hour. It is great and encouraging to see all the kids improving weekly. Training moves back outdoors to our club grounds in Blennerville from 10.30 to 11.30am.

U12: St. Pats under 12’s were training last Friday on our Astro pitch and again last Sunday  indoors in Cumann Iosaef. Everyone put in a great effort especially Liam O’Connor, Gary Scollard, Aiden Hayes and Darragh Murphy.  Next training session is this Fri 1st of March 5.45pm to 6.45pm on our Astro in Blennerville Gaa Pitch and then again next Sunday 3rd of March  from 10.30am to 11.30am on the Gaa pitch in Blennerville. The u12 county league starts Sunday 31st of March so It’s important ye all continue to attend our training sessions and keep practicing yer skills at home during the week. Naomh Pádraig Abú !!

U14 Boys: Our U 14 boys played neighbours, Kerins O’Rahillys last Sunday morning in Blennerville in a Tralee Town Board League fixture. We gave a much better performance on the day but lost out in the end to a predominantly young team.
