Juvenile Academy

U6: Thanks to Fiacc for leading a fun adventure warm up with practice of our fundamental movement skills. We had extra kicking practice today with Michael Sheehan and Fiacc both leading kicking drills. Our little box games working well this week.
Special mention to Dylan Passaway in our match play, you led your team very well. Paddy Costello captained the reds & won himself the player of the week trophy for really getting the hang of match play and kicking skills. Eana Sheehan you showed fantastic skill and strong tackling.. watch out for that trophy!! See you at the academy next week.

U8: We had a great session in the sunshine last Sunday with another great turnout. We started with some ball handling and kicking skills which we then developed into small sided games followed by a full pitch game at the end.

We had some great performances from Tommy & Hugh Costello along with AJ Turner, Blake Bowler and Isaac Price. However, player of the week went to Bruce McMillan who is working hard on his skills and gave an exhibition in goals for the game. We have a busy few weeks coming up for the Under 8’s.

Training will be at 10:30am next Sunday morning. We will host the U8 Go Games Blitz for St Brendan’s with Ardfert, Churchill,  Ballyheigue & St Pats participating. It will take place on Thursday week May 16th at 6:30pm in Blennerville. Also, on Sunday May 26th, we will host Listry at Under 8’s for a game as a curtain raiser to the senior county league game vs Listry. This will be at the slightly later start time of 12pm.

We also intend playing some other games against other clubs before the short break in the summer. So with the weather being dry, parents, we urge you to get outside with your kids out practicing their skills. A special word of thanks also to Jo O’Dwyer and Sarah Turner who helped out with the girls training last Sunday. The girls are really enjoying their games amongst themselves and we would love if more parents would get involved.

U10: A great training session in the sunshine was enjoyed by our future stars in training last Sunday and it is great to see them having fun whilst learning their skills. Chloe, Tara and Aimee put in a good session with Chloe making some excellent catches during the final game and was rewarded with the player of the week trophy.

Don’t forget to practice with a ball for 20 minutes every day at home during the week.

U12: St Pats  U-12’s were at home last Sunday to Asdee/Ballylongford in the Co League. At the long whistle after a very entertaining game, with some wonderful displays of skills by both teams, our St Pats future stars were the happier.

Some of the highlights of the game were our stand in keeper Mark O Brien who was was rock solid for his team with a safe pair of basketball hands.

Liam O’Connor caught and cleared two unbelievable balls out of defense at the end, Michael Enright busting out in front of his opponent to win possession, Enda Sheehan’s near hand tackle dispossessing his opposite number, Jack Costello’s solo run through the middle for an excellent goal, Daniel Sheehy’s overhead catches, Darragh Murphy’s work rate covering every patch of grass on the pitch, Luke Passway’s quick turn and powerful shot at goals, Killian O’Mahony’s lovely pointed free from a really tight angle, Conor Sheehan’s lovely left foot passing, Rory Daly’s clever runs to get on the ball and young Rodhan Culloo’s two magnificent, well taken goals.

The first phase of the Co league is now complete, phase 2 will commence in the next couple of weeks. It’s important ye all continue to attend our training sessions and also keep practicing yer skills at home during the week. The training schedule for the week will be circulated shortly and when the fixtures for Phase 2 Co league are released, our u12 parents will be notified.  Naomh Pádraig Abú !!

U14 Girls: Our U14 girls play their round 3 Non County Player County League this Friday, the 10th May, when they make the short trip to Ballymac. Throw-in time is 6pm. Best of luck to all involved.

U14 Boys: Our U14 boys welcomed table-toppers, Annascaul/Lispole to Blennerville in our last County League fixture last Wednesday evening. They competed well especially in the second half but were well beaten in the end. A huge credit to the boys for not giving upo and it is hoped that this experience will stand to them in future.

U16: We played Castleisland Desmonds last Monday in Blennerville in a Central Region fixture with the away side proving too strong in the end. We palyed well and were unlucky not to convert the chances that came our way in both halves.

Our last match in this competition is against Ballyheigue in Blennerville on Monday 6th May at 6pm.
