Juvenile Academy

U6: We had an earlier session this morning due to the school fun day.. apologies to anyone who hadn’t received notification as the system was down.. nonetheless we had an energetic session with some high intensity tackling drills and great fun match play. Very well done to Ankit who won player of the week on merit of skill and high energy play not to mention his quick dancing feet!!
Keep up the practice at home boys & girls
Back to normal academy next week.

U8: We had a slightly less than normal turnout last Sunday due to the Blennerville School Family Walk later in the day. But nonetheless, everyone present put in a huge effort. Coach Conor Culloo took a joint warm up with the Under 10’s and then the U8’s split into two groups; Coach John worked with the Younger group in possession games and worked on individual skills.

Mike then took the older players for conditioned game which ended in a draw. Rylan Flynn was a well deserving Player of the Week. Training will continue on Sunday next and back to the normal time of 10:30am. We will play our last round of the St Brendans Board blitz the week commencing June 24th. More details on it will be announced next week.

U10: Well done to all of our under-10 players who played in a blitz hosted by Ardfert GAA Club on Tuesday 11th June. This was the third blitz in a series of Go-games hosted by the Clubs in the St. Brendan’s Board area.

So far we have played in games hosted by ourselves, Churchill and Ardfert with the final set of games to be hosted by Ballyheigue GAA Club. These games give our young players a chance to pitch their footballing skills against their peers from the other clubs in games that are played under modified rules to suit the age group.

In the most recent blitz in Ardfert all our players played very well in all three games showing great teamwork, good tackling and defending along with some excellent score taking. A special mention to the under-8 players who added greatly to our team namely Tommy, Hugh, Rián and Seámus.

It was back on the training on Sunday morning and the earlier start of 10am didn’t diminish the enthusiasm! By the finish of the warm-up routine all were fully energised and ready for the competitive game that followed.

Eddie was in top form with his tackling and point scoring, Lainey, James and Aoife showing great passing and support play, Patryk who has only recently returned to training displayed good catching and kicking skills. Protnu, one of the under-8 players, joined in our game and what a good catcher and kicker he proved to be.

Again the task of picking a Player of the Week is getting more difficult as all our players are putting in great effort however for her all round display on Sunday the trophy was awarded to Lainey …well deserved.

U12: St. Pats under 12’s were training last Friday and again last Sunday. Everyone put in a great effort especially Luke Passway, Kevin Gaxha, Ben O’Leary & Rory Daly. Next session is this Tues 18th, where we have a Co League Game at home v Skellig Rangers at 6.30pm. Naomh Pádraig Abú !!

U14 Boys: Our U14 central region game against Milltown/Castlemaine originally fixed for Monday in Milltown has now been switched to this Thursday, 20th June in Blennerville at 7.45pm.

U14 Girls: Our girls played Southern Gaels B last Saturday in Blennerville and showed great determination despite missing some key players and facing a team that came with 22 players on their panel, but we suffered our heaviest defeat. Well done to our girls who battled to the end with some of our girls having played carrying knocks and illnesses.

Best Wishes
