Juvenile Academy

U6: We had a great turnout on a lovely morning at St Pats this morning. A warm welcome to the Slade & Murphy families joining us for the first time. Also to Ailíse Hayes and Ella Sayers who started this morning to follow in the footsteps of their dads Sean & James!

We work on a lot of fun movement games for fundamental skills such as agility, coordination, side stepping, hip stability etc. ball skills including running bounce, catch, solo/ thigh solo & kicking technique.
Splitting our group to senior & junior allows match play for 6 aside & fun games for the junior section from 3 years plus. Any boys and girls wanting to give it a try for our autumn season are more than welcome.

Today Shane Murphy joined in with gusto & showed great speed, agility & kicking. Very well done to him on his first day! Keep up the movement and ball handling practice at home! Goooo St Pats!!!

U8 Boys: We had great numbers with the under 8’s at academy last Sunday morning under the watchful eye of coaches John, Michael and Roger. After an active warm up, they worked on skills before a competitive game between them all. There was some great showings by all boys but one young man who clearly is working hard on his skills, particularly his fielding is AJ Turner and he was Player of the Week. Well done AJ. We also would like to welcome Darragh Murphy to St Pats who did very well for his first training session. We look forward to seeing Darragh and his twin 4 year old brothers Tadhg & Shane again next week. Academy for under 8’s continues next Sunday at 10:30am, hopefully after a Kerry win the night before!!

U8/10 Girls: We had 10 very committed and enthusiast girls train last Sunday under the watchful eye of Coach Joe. They began with a fun animal movement warm up, followed by a skills based relay race and we finished with a game and penalties at the end. There was some strong performance from Aimee Turner, Tara Dowling, The Costello Girls and Erika Balode. However, Player of the Week went to Niamh Murphy who is showing she’s got plenty of skill like her older siblings!

Training continues again next Sunday at 10:30am. We would love to see more girls come to training in this age group and would also like some assistance with coaching. If any parent or anybody is interested in helping out with the academy girls, please contact Joe on 0872593800.

U10: A great training session was enjoyed by our future stars in training last Sunday and it is great to see them having fun whilst learning their skills.

Don’t forget to practice with a ball for 20 minutes every day at home during the week.

Juveniles

U14 Girls: Our girls lost the Shield final to a good Abbeydorney side last Thursday evening in Blennerville. Playing with only just 12 players, our girls struggled to keep going for the full duration of the match unlike our opponents who had plenty of subs to bring on. Well done to the girls for putting up a great fight and congratulations to Abbeydorney.

This loss means we will now be playing Listowel Emmets B in the Plate final Wednesday week, the 18th of September in Blennerville at 7pm.

We will have our last training session of the year this Wednesday at the usual time of 6pm, so it is important that all players turn up for this session.

Seniors

Our Round 11 County League home game against Firies will now not go ahead due to the unavailability of some intercounty players, in this case, Firies’ Jack Sherwood as well as the necessity to play some games at the same time. New date and time is yet to be confirmed.

Senior Football Championship

Best of luck to St Brendan’s who will now play East Kerry in round 1 of the SFC on Sunday, the 22nd of September at 1.30pm in Austin Stack Park with extra time and a result on the day. Former St Pats star, Seamus Murphy is the team manager, so we urge all our supporters to turn up for what promises to be a cracking match.
