Juvenile Academy

U6: We had a good turnout of 19 in the warm Kerry Sports Academy hall despite the blustery conditions again this week!

Our training aims will always continue to be fun & active with lots of movement in different directions to improve agility & coordination. At this stage we now want more ball handling & skills practice both in session & at home. So with that in mind we have a new player of the week trophy. This will be given in rotation to the player who impresses the coaches the most with motivation to learn & practice.. this week Aaron Costello showed that his hours of practice paid off!
Keep it fun join in & encourage as many ball touches as you can indoors or out!!
Liam Poff & Fiacc will lead the session next Sunday morning at 10am.

U8: Great effort by all our u8 squad in the new Sports Academy on Sunday.

We focussed on the basic skills with a lot of work done on soloing and the pick-up. We finished with a series of matches that had fantastic effort and skill levels.

Please keep an eye out for more coaching videos this week. 10-15 minutes of work at home will make a big difference.

U10: While it may have been very windy outside, inside the sports hall of the Kerry Sports Academy our Under-10 players were engaged in a whirlwind of activity at their coaching session last Sunday morning. From the start to the end of the session there was no lessening of commitment and learning. In our game at the end of the session, where the players use the skills they have practiced earlier, we saw some great combinations of hand passing between Aoife, Tara and Kaela while Rián, James and Tommy showed how to give a good kick pass, Isaac and Thomas continue to improve every week. Practising at home is very important to maintain improvement although it is hard to do so outside due our recent bad weather however you can always do some of the warm-up exercises for 10 minutes every day. As is always the case with this group of enthusiastic players the decision of who gets the Player of the Week trophy is a tough one …so very well done to Aoife who showed great teamwork and commitment, keep it up Aoife.

U12: Our U12’s had another great session last Wednesday evening braving the cold weather to train on our pitch. Training continues this Wednesday at the usual time of 4.45pm to 6pm on our astro pitch. Don’t forget gum shields.

U14: Our U14’s resumed training last Thursday evening under the bright lights of our astro pitch in preparation for the Tralee Town Board League. We will be playing Na Gaeil at home this Sunday (weather permitting), the 23rd at 11am and urge the parents and well-wishers to come and support the team. Training however continues this Thursday evening from 5.45pm to 7pm.

U16: Training continues every Friday night from 5:30pm to 7pm on our astro pitch. For further queries, please contact Liam (086-3786468) & Luke (087-2862363).
