Lotto

While some outlets for the sale of our Lotto tickets remain closed due to Covid-19 restrictions the Club has decided to resume our Club Lotto with the first draw scheduled for Sunday 30th August. We will be in touch with club members by email, text, Facebook and Website to advise of the resumption. As everybody is aware the lack of income from the Lotto and the Dingle Way challenge has had a very negative effect on our finances. We encourage all our members to support the Lotto if not supporting it already and to endeavour to get family and friends to support it as well.

Juveniles

U6: Our U6’s took a break from activities last Sunday but will be back this Sunday at the usual time of 10.30am.

U8: Great morning for our u8s last Sunday as we visited our near neighbours in Kerins ORahillys for some fun games.
We had 3 x 7 aside teams and played a blitz format which worked perfectly.
All the boys and girls showed huge improvement and put the skills they have learned over the last few weeks to great use.
We will be organizing more games in the coming weeks so keep up the skills work at home.
Thanks to Rahillys for welcoming us.

U10: Another great session for this young group of players last Friday evening. A young group it is as many of the players are also still playing with the under-8 team so well done to them for doing the extra training. A welcome was extended to Alana who was attending her second session and displayed that she has been well coached by her older brother Killian from our under-14 panel. We had some good practice at the solo-run which is a difficult skill to master and one that is unique to Gaelic football. This is a skill that definitely requires practice at home even if it’s only to tap the ball from foot to hand in a stationary position.

The end of session games are producing some great games and last Friday we were treated to some great play from the dynamic Tommy and Hugh, a master class in defending by AJ and Rián, some tenacious tackling by Thomas and Jace and good attacking skills by Isaac and Rylan with James kicking a few nice points.

We will be back on the training pitch as usual on Friday at 6pm and look forward to another energetic session.

U12: We travelled to Tarbert on Sunday last where the locals were victorious in a hard fought game. Our next game is at home v Castlegregory on Sunday next at 6pm.

U14: We welcomed table-topping Dingle to Blennerville last Wednesday evening for our round 2 County league fixture. We started the first half poorly and conceded some heavy scores but our boys didn’t drop their heads and played a much better second-half and were unlucky not to bridge the gap closer as Dingle ran away comfortable winners.

Phase 2 of same competitions starts this Wednesday and we are drawn in Division 6B with Skellig Rangers, Dromid/Waterville and Renard. Fixtures are as follows:

Rd 1: Wednesday 19/8 at 7pm St Pats V Skellig Rangers

Rd 2: Wednesday 26/8 at 7pm Dromid/Waterville V St Pats

Rd 3: Wednesday 2/9 at 6.30pm St Pats V Renard

U16: Hard luck to our U16s who lost their rescheduled County League fixture last Monday away to Beale.

Minors

Once again, our Round 2 MFL match against Asdee/Ballydonoghue/Ballylongford could not take place last Saturday due to our inability to field a team and had to concede the fixture.

County Junior Football League

Our match against Castlegregory scheduled for last Friday evening had to be called off due to a bereavement and would now be played this Tuesday evening, the 18th in Blennerville at 7pm.

Senior Football Championship

Best of luck to St Brendans seniors who will play against West Kerry in Round 1 of the SFC this Saturday, the 22nd of August at 3pm in Austin Stack Park.  This is a straight knockout competition with results to be had on the day. St Pats stalwart, Seamus Murphy is the manager.

Minor Football Championship

Best of luck to the St Brendans minor panel as they face South Kerry in the semi-finals of the Minor Football Championship next Monday, the 24th of August at 6pm in JP O’Sullivan’s Park, Killorglin. There will be extra-time and winner on the day.

Sympathy

The club would like to extend its sympathy to the family and friends of Kathleen O’Sullivan (née O’Mahony) Stacks Villas and formerly of Lohercannon and Michael Spillane Fahamore Castlegregory.
