Covid Update

Following the latest government announcement last week, non-contact underage training in pods of 15 will be permitted from April 26th and full contact Inter-County training at adult level can re-commence from April 19th. The GAA also hope to have finalised updated versions of our Return to Play documents for both inter-county and club activity ahead of the stated dates for resumption.

St Pats Blennerville GAA Ceol and Greetings Production

The club would like to thank all who have donated so far to our ‘St Pats GAA Ceol and Greetings Production’ starring local performers and supported by a few surprise guests from near and far. Funds raised will go towards the running and development of the club.

Club Membership 2021

While we still await a definitive date of when training and games activities resume, we are working on being prepared to start without delay once a date is confirmed. One step in these preparations is to have members registered and in particular playing members. Players of all ages will need to be registered with the GAA via the Club to allow participation in activities and to complete health questionnaires as part of the ‘Return to Play’ protocol.

The GAA has introduced a new on-line system which provides for self-service membership registration and payment for individuals and families. The system is called Foireann, which is Irish for Team, and can be accessed via the Club website www.stpatsgaclub.com or type www.foirean.ie into your internet browser.

Members who set up a ‘ReturnToPlay’ account in 2019 to complete the Health Questionnaires can access their Foireann account by using the same logon id and password as used last year. If you don’t have a ReturnToPlay account then you can register a new account very easily on Foireann. Go to www.foireann.ie and follow the instructions for New user. If you go to the Club website www.stpatsgaclub.com further information is provided and if you encounter any difficulties send an email to Sean at treasurer.stpatricksblennerville.kerry@gaa.ie

Last Man Standing Competition

St Pats Last Person Standing Competition commenced on the weekend of the 6th of February with 263 entries in total starting the competition and we would like to thank all of you for supporting this fundraiser.

After 6 weeks of competition, we had 16 players still competing for the top prize of €400. We have 4 Ladies still in the competition who can win the €100 for the last lady standing but can also scoop the top prize of €400 if they are the last Person Standing

The planned fixtures calendar for week 7 was reduced to 4 games and St Pats therefore decided to take a break from competition on week 7. The Last Person Standing resumed this week [Week 8]. All players that pre-selected their teams in advance were given

The opportunity to review their selections, Man Utd [4], Leeds Utd [3], Chelsea [3], Aston Villa [3], Everton [2], and Spurs [2] were the selected teams for week 8. Following the weekend games 4 players exited the competition with Chelsea and Spurs failing to record victories, two more players are waiting on the result of the Monday night fixture, Everton V Crystal Palace to determine their future in the competition.

Best of luck to the remaining 12 Players

2020 Injury Fund Extension to 31st May 2021 – A Croke Park Directive

Given that no activity has been possible for January to March 2021 a further two-month extension of Injury Fund cover has been ratified by Coiste Bainistíochta. This will now take the 2020 cover term up until 31 May 2021.

This means that the GAA Injury Benefit Fund cover remains in place based on existing 2020 team registrations. Units do not need to register or pay for their 2021 teams until re-invited to do so. Details with regards to registering and payment for the 2021 GAA Injury Benefit Fund will issue once we have more clarity from Government as to what the coming months may look like.

It is a condition of the extended 2020 Injury Fund cover to 31 May 2021 that in advance of any permitted return to train or play in either April or May, “All players will still be required to be individually registered for the 2021 season on the new “Foireann” membership system.” 2020 player registrations will “NOT” carry over into 2021 and cover will be declined if a player is not fully registered for the 2021 season in advance of any return to train or play in 2021.

Juvenile Positions

The club is actively recruiting new referees to assist in Juvenile games and blitzes.

Kerry Co Board will provide full training courses to those interested and the club will also assist in the process. This is a fantastic opportunity to stay active in GAA, represent the club and develop personal skills. Garda Vetting & Child protection certs are mandatory.

We are also looking for a Juvenile PRO to help promote the club’s juvenile section and its activitiesacross various online and offline media. The role will be most suited to someone with a keen interest in online and social media activities and has a passion for writing.

If you are interested, please contact Juvenile Secretary Seamus Murphy or Juvenile Chairperson Joe Costello.

GAA National Club Draw

Each year the GAA runs a National Club Draw where 100% of all funds raised are retained by each club. The GAA at a national level puts up all the prizes and the clubs keep 100% of all ticket sales to help with the development of each club’s facilities.

The 2021 GAA National Club Draw has even more prizes on offer, varying from a Renault Car to All Ireland Final Tickets, and a variety of cash prizes. Due to Covid 19 restrictions we are unable to call to people’s homes asking them to support the draw. Instead, we are making the tickets available to purchase online Tickets are €10 each and you can purchase a ticket for the GAA National Club Draw by clicking here.

Congratulations

To one of our underage coaches, Mícheál Sheehan who took on his first ever marathon on Easter Sunday to raise funds for Recovery Haven Kerry Cancer Support House. Well done also to his wife and fellow coach, Rosalie Scanlon as well as their 2 sons who play with our academy teams and his bother who provided support along the way.

The club would like to extend its sympathy to the families and friends of Mary Barry, Oakpark Tralee and Jim Galvin, Tonavane.
