Many thanks to all who contribute to our weekly Club Lotto. The Club cannot emphasise enough the importance of our members promoting the Club Lotto among family, friends and work colleagues. The Covid-19 restrictions have seriously hampered our fundraising and income over the last 18 months. The Lotto is now a critical source of funds for the Club. We are appealing to all club members to promote our lotto at this time to ensure our clubs future viability.

Please have your lotto entries in by 7pm, every Sunday evenings.

Juvenile Academy

U5’s: Another week for brave boys and girls, luckily the squally showers didn’t put off many U5s.

A warm up of raindrop dodging and sprints was followed with a kicking skills session and a game of ball tag really worked on evasion skills.

All the kids finished off the training with a well contested match.

Kai McCoy has improved drastically since the start of the season and won player of the week for his participation and effort.

U7’s: We hosted Na Gaeil in the U7 Go Games last Sunday and all our boys and girls gave a good account of themselves despite the tough conditions. Thanks also to the coaches and parents of our boys and girls and to Na Gaeil for a great morning of exciting games.

U8&10 Girls: There was no training or matchlast week for under 8s or 10s. We are looking forward to hosting Castlegregory & Annascaul in St Pats Monday 3rd in the evening for an under 10 mini blitz at 6pm sharp.

There will be 2 more weeks of training and matches amongst our girls before our winter break.

U11’s: Our u11s resumed training at our home pitch on Friday evening. Our coaching team was joined by James Dowling this week and he was a big hit with our young players, and our not-so-young coaches! We had a great session of fast-paced, fun games. We started with drills to practice kick-pass and catch, then soloing off each foot and finished with hand-passing on the run. These are drills that all our players must practice at home regularly to improve their technique. James then led the players through a game of “Prisoner boxes” that our players really had fun with while also developing their kicking accuracy.

We finished the session with a practice match and we were delighted to see a big improvement in effort. Tackling and teamwork are two areas that we have been working hard to improve recently, and the coaches were particularly impressed this week by the efforts of Thomas, Jake, Cillian, James, Jace and Eddie. Our Sunday training session was again a victim of the weather this week. Training continues next Friday at 6p.m. Over the next two Sundays, we will have a “Street league” at our grounds in Blennerville. We will have four teams made up of our u9 and u11 boys. This mini competition will finish with finals on Sunday 17th which will also be the last day of our Academy. Please remember that all players must wear their gum shield and to training and matches and complete the health questionnaire prior to each event on foireann.ie

U12 Girls: We played our 3rd round of the Tralee town board league last Wednesday evening away to John Mitchels we were defeated by a stronger & more physical team on the evening we won a lot of the kick outs on the evening but our scoring wasn’t enough, We had to bring up a few of our under 10 girls to fill our team who all played exceptional we had scores from Kayla & Saorlaith

A special mention to Rhianna O Brein who played outstanding in half centre back followed by our full back Aoife Kennedy & Our midfielders Lilly & Lainey

Well done to this team going forward for a shield final (date yet to be confirmed)

Goalkeeper Eve O Sullivan Captain Lainey Costello, Lily Breen, Tara Dowling, Sarah Greaney, Aimee Turner, Chloe Passway, Rihanna O Brien, Allannah O Mahoney, Niamh Murphy, Aoife Kennedy, Katelyn Laide, Kaela Reidy, Ailbhe Hennessy, Grace Costello, Saorlaith Costello, Emma & Jessica Lacey

We trained on Friday evening to accommodate the under 7 whom had a blitz on Sunday morning, we’d a fun session of fun games & drills & mini match

Training continues next Sunday for fun games & treats as we will be finishing the season on the 17th of October.

U13’s: Naomh Padraig 5 09 v Caislèan Ghriare 5- 19.

Well done to Castlegregory who defeated a gallant St Pats side in our final central league fixture. We had the better of the early exchanges but Castle pressed ahead and gained a commanding half time lead. We tried hard and scored 5 superb goals but Castle were deserving winners.

It was great to have Michael Enright back after his injury.

Hard luck to the St Brendan’s Board Minors who were defeated by East Kerry last Saturday afternoon in Castleisland in round 3 of the Keane’s SuperValu MCC on a scoreline of 1-07 to 0-08 points. However, by virtue of their second position in Group 3, they qualify for the knockout stage with quarter finals to be played the weekend October 16/17.
