U11 Boys

Twenty-two of our U11 boys made the trip to Páirc Uí Chaoimh last Thursday for the Munster U11 Go Games blitz. It was a fantastic day out for all the boys.

We played four games against Nemo Rangers, Galtee Gaels, Doneraile and Bride Rovers. The venue and occasion inspired our lads as we played some of the best football all season with some great passing and score taking when in possession and superb tackling and work rate when we hadn’t the ball.

After the games, the lads got a stadium tour from Cork senior footballer Rory McGuire where he was posed with some interesting questions from a bunch of proud young Kerry men. Let just say the current location of Sam Maguire was referred to on a few occasions!!

A food stop in Killarney rounded off what was a great day for the lads. Huge thanks to coaches John, Brian and Joe for Co-ordinating the trip and for parents Aidan and John in assisting with crowd control!

The boys were also grateful of the great support we had from the parents and families of the players. We had no training this Sunday to give everyone a break for the bank holiday weekend. The U11 Central Region is due to start this coming Thursday.

At the time of these notes being drafted, we have yet to receive fixtures, but these will be circulated on the WhatsApp group as soon as we receive them. Keep up the practice at home and we will see you all on Thursday.

St Brendan’s Minors continue their campaign in the Minor Football Championship Round 3 in Blennerville on Monday night 1st of August at 7pm against Rathmore.

Seniors

Our seniors began their Kerry Petroleum Junior Premier Club Championship in horrible conditions, this game was quick from the very beginning. We had points from Luke Mulligan, Brendan Poff, David O Callaghan, and Jordan Conway.

Churchill scored five points when the ball would not stay in St Pats hands. A superb goal from Gary Savage which stunned the Churchill goalkeeper as it hit the back of the net. Half time score St Pats 1-04 Churchill 0-05

With conditions deteriorating further as the second half opened, Churchill scored a point and goal within a few minutes of the start. Paudie Bailey stepped up to take St Pats free which sailed over the bar.

Churchill led and added two more points, with the weather not in our favor and players trying hard to hold on to the ball. David O Callaghan added his own point with windy conditions causing its own problems. With the clock ticking down Kieran Hurley added two of his own points to draw the game. St Pats 0-08 Churchill 0-08
