Registration 2023

Now that some of our teams have resumed training and others will be resuming shortly players and coaches, please register your membership of the Club for 2023.

One of the benefits of registering as a playing member of the GAA or LGFA via the Club is that in the event of an injury sustained playing or training resulting in medical expenses it may be possible to claim a level of refund from the GAA or LGFA Injury Benefit Fund.

However, any player seeking to benefit from the Injury Benefit Fund must be a registered member of the GAA or LGFA on Foireann at the time of injury.

The respective Injury Benefit Funds are self-funded entirely from the GAA and LGFA funds with no outside involvement. The Injury Funds are not an insurance scheme. The Injury Funds are set up to assist members with some reimbursement for medical expenses incurred due to an injury sustained playing Gaelic football.

The respective Injury Benefit Funds do not seek to compensate fully for injuries sustained but to supplement other Schemes such as Personal Accident or Health Insurance. The GAA and LGFA Schemes only provide cover for unrecoverable losses up to the limits specified under the respective Schemes. More details can be viewed on https://learning.gaa.ie/InjuryFund or https://ladiesgaelic.ie/resources/injury-fund/

Foireann Mobile App

A Foireann mobile app is now available, and this is the only official membership and communications app for GAA, LGFA and Camogie clubs. The app is available for both iOS (via the Apple Store) and Android devices (via Google Play).

The Foireann Mobile app makes it even easier to manage your Foireann profile and all the ways you interact with the Club. We ask all members to download the app as it will make it easier to manage membership, update contact details and keep up to date with team activities.

The Foireann membership and communications app is fully integrated with the Foireann membership system – members can log in on the app with their existing Foireann account to see upcoming events which includes event details for anyone in your Family. The app also puts news, fixtures, and results in your pocket so you can stay up to date with the most important and relevant information.

Foireann is the GAA system used by clubs to manage membership and it allows members to register for membership and pay online using the Mobile app or the Foireann system at www.foireann.ie

U5

Very well done to all the boys and girls who joined us for our 3rd energetic football session in the MTU. The kids are getting to know each other and the fun games and participation is excellent.

The focus on these sessions will always aim for fun development of movement patterns such as running, direction change, hopping, jumping, crawling, rolling etc. These skills are the foundation of any sport and healthy lifestyle growing up.

Encourage your children to also throw catch, bounce and kick at home so they increase in confidence and skill. Balloons are slower than balls if they find it difficult. Our Players of the week showed great enthusiasm and concentration throughout the session.. excellent work by Tyler and Brogan this week!

Thanks to all the coaches and our senior players Ailbhe and Grace again week. Looking forward to seeing you all wearing red for the St Patrick’s Day Parade on Friday. Parents and guardians included!!

U9

Well done to our u9 boys on another great session on Sunday at the MTU. The boys warmed up with a fun game of Sharks and Fishes. They then had good fun going through agility courses using hurdles, hoops, ladders, and cones, testing their reaction skills and practicing hopping, soloing and catching.

They then practiced the chest catch, hand passing and punt kick pass. They also practiced shooting for points and goals. The boys put their skills on display with two small, sided games to finish the session. Well done to all boys on a great effort and particularly to player of the week Shane Murphy. We encourage all boys to have a football at home and practice the skills during the week.

U13

Last Sunday, our u13’s made the short trip to Ballyrickard to take on Kerins O’Rahilly’s “A” in the Tralee/St Brendan’s Board league. The first half was evenly contested with only four points between the teams at half time.

We scored two goals in this half: the first a lovely palmed effort from Aidan Berry after a good ball in from Callum Rice. The second was a cracker from goalkeeper Rylan Flynn from a ‘45.

The second half was a different affair with the hosts dominating the exchanges from start to finish, running out comfortable winners in the end. It is a steep learning curve for a lot of the lads but there was an improvement from the game the previous week against Churchill.

Our best performers on the day were the Costello and Flynn twins, Jake Kelly and Darragh Flahive who came on after training with the u11’s earlier in the morning. Thanks to Kerins O’Rahilly’s for facilitating our request to bring the game forward.

We are also grateful to ref Maurice O’Sullivan from Ballyheigue who spoke very well to our team after the game. Our last game in this competition is against Ballymac which is scheduled for Thursday March 23rd at home to Ballymac at 5:30pm.

In the meantime, we will train on Tuesday night from 6-7pm on the pitch and on Sunday from 12-1pm at the MTU Astro.

There will be no training this Thursday due to confirmations taking place. The coaches send their best regards to all our players making their confirmation this year.

The squad that played on Sunday against Kerins O’Rahilly’s was as follows: Rylan Flynn, Jake Kelly, Rían Flynn, Paddy Flynn, Luke O’Sullivan, Jace Flynn, James Dály, Hugh and Tommy Costello, Aidan Berry, Eddie Hayes, Stephen Enright, Thomas Colivet, Callum Price, Gearóid Hingston, Dee Hanly and Darragh Flahive.
