Juvenile Academy

U6’s: Our team made the short trip to Oak Park where we played against Na Gaeil last Sunday. Everyone involved had fun.

U8’s: Well done to our u 8s who played Na Gaeil last Sunday.  This was another excellent team performance for this team of emerging stars. Training continues on Sunday next at 10.30am.

U10’s: St Pats U-10’s had a busy week. We took part in a well organised Fun Go Games blitz last Wednesday in Ardfert against our near neighbours from the St Brendan’s area. All our St Pats future stars performed very well on the evening. Thomas Sheehy, Eddie Stack and Mark O’Brien in defended very well and gave a great display of the blocking down skills. Diarmuid Waugh and Daniel Sheehy swept up everything around the middle and made some great ran at the opposition.

Our forward line of Fionn Dairo, Millie O’Brien and Grainne Breen got some great scores for their team. Then last Sunday our U-10s played very well against Na Gaeil. All The coaches were delighted with the effect each player made. It’s great to see the continuous improvement each player is showing on every outing but it is very important that ye continue to practice yer skills at home during the week. Naomh Padraig Abu…

U12’s: the U12’s were away to Kilcummin B in a rescheduled round 4 county eague match last Wednesday evening and recorded their first victory of the campaign. Kilcummin made a great start in the first half and were ahead by 8 points at the break. Half-time scores were Kilcummin B 5-05 St Pats 3-03.

The St Pats team that came out in the second half were a completely different team as they worked so hard to reduce the home side to just 4 points in the half, while they scored 2-07 of their own. It was an overall great team performance and this victory has been long coming to them.Final scores were Kilcummin B 5-09 St Pats 5-10

Team: Paddy Moran, Callum Houston, James Dowling, Liam O’Sullivan, Caoimhe Dairo, Cillian Lynch, Adam Hegarty, Daniel Moriarty, Sean Murphy (1 goal), Colin Doody (2 goals) and Lisa Rowan.

Subs: Josh Quilter, Corey O’Shea and Fionn Dairo (2 goals).

Seniors
Our seniors played Ardfert in Round 4 of the County League Tuesday 7th. This was a very close and well contested game by both teams. St Pat’s narrowly lost by a point on a scoreline of 1-20 to 4-12 to Ardfert.

St Pats made the trip north of Kerry last Saturday where they were hosted by Tarbert. Played in wet conditions and with both teams yet to register a win in the county league, St Pats started well with two well-taken points from Willie Hurley. From then on, St Pats had a lot of possession but the wet ground and bad decisions ensured that the scores were low. The highlight of the half was when Brendan Poff made a blistering run towards the Tarbert goal area and was brought down at the edge of the square. The resultant free was converted by David O’Callaghan as St Pats held a two point advantage at the interval.

The second half started in the same manner as most of the first half with “The Pats” dominating in all areas and were only about 5 minutes into the half when Paul McMahon found space on the right side of Tarbert’s goal area to deliver a fisted pass to veteran Eoin Sayers, who wasted no time in blasting the ball into the net. The away side were well in control of proceedings and another goal by David O’Callaghan put the game beyond the home side, Tarbert. Newboy, George Carnegie scored the last point of this encounter as the game finished on a scoreline of  Tarbert 0-8 to  St Pats 2-11

Feile 2016

The John West Féile Peile na nÓg is just around the corner and  our Feile committee and U14 coaches are busy putting plans together for the visit of Delaware Gaels from Philadelphia, USA, who will be arriving on Monday the 20th of June.

Many of the “Feile parents” are providing accommodation to our visitors from America but we will need more volunteers for various roles that need to be fulfilled over the coming week. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Brenda Doody on 0868887889. St Pats are drawn in division 9 with Delaware Gaels, Dingle and Offaly completing the group.

Blennerville National School

St. Brendan’s N.S. Blennerville, are preparing for the official opening on 29th June, where we will be celebrating mass with Bishop Ray Browne, and Fr Francis Nolan with many friends and past pupils.

Please contact the school about attending this, if you wish, prior to the day. The school has commissioned a work of art whereby the children will all draw and paint an oak leaf and attach it to a bare oak tree. We would sincerely like to thank Joe Costello at Noyeks Newmans for donating two sheets of ‘mdf’ for this art work.

This week is National Bike Week. Our school applied to Kerry County Council for a grant to help promote cycling in our school, which we were delighted to have been accepted for. During Bike Week, we will be cycling to Fenit with the older classes, undertaking a massive 24km cycle.

We will have cycle safety talks at school. We will have puncture changing demonstrations. We will also have Occupational Therapist Eileen O’Connor on board to help target teach some older children who cannot yet cycle. We also invite classes to bring their bikes to school on their allocated day, for fun in the school yard. Classes will get a text the evening beforehand to remind them when it is their turn. To read more about this national week, see bikeweek.ie For all of our school news see www.blennervillens.ie

The school wish to thank the parents who have given their time, expertise and gifts to our new fairy garden. This project has taken off and the good will has been infectious. We have gotten a very generous donation from a local body, from parents, from the Garden Squad/Woodies project and a huge amount from the ‘Blennerville Book Committee’ who we thank sincerely. Without you, it wouldn’t have happened. Thanks especially to Julie and Brendan, Tony and to Brian O’Grady for bringing our original door back to glory, which is now the fairy garden entrance.

Thanks also to the Parent’s Association who helped make Sports Day such a success last week.
